Weekend recap, inlaw drama

Monday already?  The weekend flew by.  it was a good weekend though.  We kept pretty busy.  Friday I spent running around finishing picking up stuff for Ethan’s birthday party (like the cake and more drinks).  Saturday was his party.  We rented a big gazebo at the park near the university.  We chose that park because it is very quiet and usually never crowded.  The party was pretty low key and relaxed.  Usually i am too busy to enjoy the kids parties, but this one was much better.  We bought pizza from a local pizza shop, and also served fruit (watermelon, grapes and strawberries), chips and ofcourse cake.  I didn’t have to worry about cooking anything, so that is definitely how we’ll probably do the next party too.  The kids played on the playground equipment, and also chased each other with water guns I brought.  I had brought water balloons too, but the water spicket had a lock on it, so we had no way to fill them.  Ethan’s actual birthday is Thursday (independence day), so we will probably have another small cake or something to celebrate.

Yesterday we took the kids to the duckpond to feed the ducks.  Ethan was pretty small the last time we took them, so he probably had no memory of being there.  They enjoyed feeding them.  The larger geese made me a little nervous with the hissing that they do.  They would get too close for comfort too.  After the duckpond, we took the kids to a playground.  Ethan fell off of one of the structures, but thankfully wasn’t hurt.  There were other kids there encouraging my boys to do things that would be dangerous (which Owen knew better).  Interestingly, there were NO parents around watching them at all.  They were probably 3 & 5 years of age.  Who just leaves their small children like that?  I see this all of the time too sadly.  There is a play area at our mall that is for kids aged 1 – 5 years old.  I will see parents drop their kids off and just leave them to go shopping.  It drives me crazy that people are that stupid.  Anyways, we wound up leaving that playground a little early because Ethan started throwing dirt at the kids.  I’m not sure why he does this, and it gets on my nerves.  We wound up stopping at another playground on our way home.  Last night we went to the drive in movie theater.  We watched the new Star Trek (they were playing Hansel And Gretel too, but we didn’t stay for the 2nd movie).  Ethan slept through most of the movie.  Owen had a blast people watching and just hanging out.  It started to rain slightly about half way through, but luckily not too bad so as to stop the movie.  I liked the movie pretty well.  Some of the plot was predictable though.  I hope to go back to the drive in a few more times this summer.

Today will probably be a low key day, spent hanging out at home.  I filled up the kiddie pool yesteday, but I think it is supposed to rain today.

In law drama.  We haven’t heard from Jamie’s parents in about 6 months.  Jamie’s dad finally started texting him a couple of days ago.  His mom has left him again, and Jamie isn’t sure where she is.  Jamie’s mom has a big drug problem and has caused quite a few problems for Jamie’s dad.  Apparently she took all of her meds (which is an insane amount of pills, seriously, she gets so much that I don’t know how she functions and doesn’t die) in 2 days, and then asked to be taken to someones house (not sure where she wound up).  She probably left because she is back into her drug habit really deep, and Jamie’s dad is trying to sober her up (he doesn’t do any type of drugs).  Anyways, Jamie’s dad has been texting him about how he is having major money problems, and ofcourse Jamie is feeling like he should help him out.  Ugh.  How many times do we have to "help" them?  They have made their decisions, they need to stop relying on him, and take care of themselves!
Jamie keeps getting calls from creditors looking for his sister.  She listed him as a refence for whatever reason.  Her car loan company called a few days ago and said that it was imperative they talk to her by 9 pm that night. I’m guessing it has finally got to the point that they are going to repossess her car.  They have been calling Jamie for atleast 6 months trying to get ahold of Angie.  Jamie gave them her work number (which is all we have for her).  Why can’t they just pay their bills?  We get called from several companies that they owe money to.  They literally went on a big vacation a week ago, and yet they can’t pay their bills.  I just don’t understand people’s way of thinking.

ethans b day sounds like a good time as for jamie’s mother, ugh. sorry you have to go through this crap. drugs freaking suck. when my mom was going through money issues (she had her home foreclosed on) i kept getting calls for her. i dont know if they looked back in the records and got the number from there (i have the same phone number that my dad had from 1971) or if they knew i wasrelated. i pretty much just laugh at them and say joanie hasnt lived here since 1987 and no i have no clue where she is, stop calling me. the only person i have ever “co signed” for was my husband. it was for the car before the car he has now. the car he has now is only in my name. i think my husband is SOL if i decide to kick him to the curb (not really planning on doing that at this moment). i own the house and the two cars. haha.

if you put a handful of birdfood and hold your hand flat the ducks and geese will eat from it. It tickles but they don’t hurt. First time is scary
