Monday already?! **
I need to update more often.
This past week was pretty good. Tuesday, I took Owen for his hearing test. His preschool had referred him, I’m assuming they tested him at school and they thought he needed further evaluation. He passed this test 🙂 So, thats one less thing to worry about. Saturday we went to Roanoke for Jamie’s neices birthday party. Roanoke is about a 2 hour drive from my house. She had the party at Chuck E Cheese. It was so loud in there and a bit chaotic, but the kids had a blast, and that was all that I wanted. After the party, we walked around the mall. The kids were grouchy from being tired, so we didn’t stay long. I only wound up buying one shirt from the Childrens Place, and that was it 🙁 I need to buy the boys more summer clothes. We stopped at Hibachi Express for lunch. Yum! I wish we had a restaurant like that here. We have a hibachi steakhouse, but there is usually a pretty good wait. The yumyum sauce wasn’t quite as good as our local place, but still pretty yummy. The kids did pretty well on the carride. I’m dreading the 6.5 hours drive to the beach in a few weeks. I guess we will just have to make plenty of stops and let them out to run and play. I was thinking of leaving maybe a night earlier and driving halfway, but we will see budget wise when the time comes. I’d rather save the money we would spend on the hotel and have it to actually spend while we were at the beach. Speaking of money to spend at the beach, I won $50 on a scratch off lottery ticket yesterday. Woo hoo 😛
I had a pretty good Mother’s Day yesterday. Jamie got up before I did and cooked me breakfast:) This is a big deal, because he has only cooked probably 3 or 4 times the entire 8 years we have been together. He made me a french omelet, pancakes and bacon. It was really good. We dont have breakfast too often because he doesn’t like big breakfasts. It was nice because he knows i LOVE breakfast. The boys also signed a card for me. We went to visit my mom yesterday evening. The kids were an absolute handful while we were there. They were gettng into everything. They continued that behavior when we got home, and by the end of the day I just wanted to pull my hair out!
Sorry for the lack of updates recently.
I’ve gained a pound or so (haven’t updated my ticker) 🙁 I’m working to start losing again. I took a break from working out while sick (did I mention we are sick with a nasty cold YET AGAIN?!!), so hopefully I can get my butt back into gear today and get on the elliptical tonight.
Oh yeah, Jamie got the job offer, the one that comes with a 25,000 raise (isn’t that crazy! There are so many people who don’t even make that a year, and he is getting that as a raise!). They actually offered him 3,000 more than he had set as him minimum pay requirement 😛 I’m nervous about the workload he is taking on though. I just hope that they don’t work him to death. Ofcourse now, he is no longer protected as a classified employee (his new job is non classified), and when the new administration comes in (the president is leaving) they could let him go if they were to choose to do so (classified staff basically cannot be fired without multiple write ups – and that never happens)
So Jamie has been browsing used cars, as of last night. My car has been having trouble starting for the last few days. I’m not sure what is causing it, but I don’t think it will be a major thing to replace. Anyways, it has gotten him on the idea of trading my car for something slightly larger and safer. I have a small Toyota yaris, which i LOVE, but its safety rating isn’t that great. If we were to be in an accident, there just isn’t much there to protect you. I love the gas mileage it gets, currently we are averaging 38 mpg. I think the possibility of having a third child sometime inthe future is another factor. He said he wants a car that we can "grow into". He was looking at a couple of Nissan Rogue, but I’m not sure they would be roomy enough for 3 carseats in the back. We had a Murano before we bought our Tundra, and LOVED it, but the backseat of it would have been tight with 3 carseats, and it is larger than the Rogue. He said if we do trade in my car (not now, but later on), we’d have to check the vehicles to see if we could fit 3 kids comfortably. I don’t necessarily want to trade vehicles anytime soon. Ofcourse if we try for another kid, we will have to. I know that once Jamie’s sister has her baby, he is going to see it and get major baby fever.
