awesome (picture entry!!)[now with more juiciness]
Got another new one! A dragon, that is. That puts me at 7. 4 girls, and 3 boys. I only ever get girls now since the boys each require their own setup. But this girl is GORGEOUS I have never seen an adult beardie like this before. She kept her high contrast pattern that they have as babies but that tend to blend into each other as they grow. I always loved the high contrast pattern on baby beardies, and wished the adults kept that and when I saw this one at the pet store a few days back I was like WOW! Gorgeous dragon! They do exist! And she was there again today… and today it was OK to get her, because they also had a used 75 gallon tank!!! It also had a BIG ol’ hide rock in it, that doubles as a great basking spot.
The girls were in a 40 gallon breeder, so this one is longer for them. They look so happy in it! The 5 looked crazy cramped in the 40, but the 6 look just fine in the 75, and now I have them set up in the living room which gets a heat lamp out of my room, and puts the girls where they are sort of on display I had really enjoyed having them in my room, to be honest, cause getting to watch them just makes me happy and I spent all my time in my room! Now I’m trying to be in the living room more though anyways, if for no other reason than I am paying for cable and I better actually take advantage of having it, but I don’t have it hooked up in my room.
So here are the pictures!!!
The new set-up!!-
The sorts of cute things that the girls do that make me randomly happy (this was before I got #6)-
It looks like they fell asleep kissing! Even though Pretty woke up when I went to take the picture.
All the girls, chilling on their new basking spot! Stella was showing off in the second one, she’s the one with her beard all puffed out-
The new girl, Sheila, and one of her and the others, so you can see how awesome her pattern is.
God I love my beardies! I can’t believe I was actually considering getting rid of some of them ever. They are just such cool creatures.
And for good measure, here are some cute pictures of the furries. They are so awesome, pretty opposite cause the first it looks like Honey is about to pounce of Fluffy, and Fluffy look she’s trying to plot her escape… then in the second Fluffy is all "I’m not scared of no cat!" climbing up right next to Honey’s face!
And with that, now it is bedtime! YAY SLEEP!
{added juice!}
So I knew something was different about her than just the pattern, I knew something about her scales looked different… OMG… SHE’S A LEATHERBACK!!!!!!!!!!!! For those of you, which would be the vast majority, who know very little about beardies: Most dragons have a few different sized scales on their backs, some smaller and some larger and rougher. The leatherback dragons have only a few of the larger scales, so their smaller scales look more precise for lack of a better term, plus they obviously aren’t as rough. It also makes the pattern a little more noticeable, which explains her pattern a little Sometimes they’re called smoothbacks, depending on their lineage but since we don’t know hers, it really doesn’t matter.
Wow, I can’t believe I got a leatherback for the price of a normal…

Oh god, I have a phobia of reptiles and nearly passed out when I opened this entry. Had to skip over it but glad you enjoy having them! Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go lie down lol
