Okay, I give.

Noters Beware!! This is a “mean-note” free diary.

I do not know which gods I pissed off or how, but there has to be some angry gods out there somewhere so let me start off by saying, “Whatever I did, I am very, very sorry!”

For those of you who read my last post, you will remember that I had a water leak under my trailer which caused my living room floor to buckle in a couple of places. That situation is in the process of being fixed. My dad put a temporary floor down. We have to get new insulation due to “cat damage”. This trailer park has a horrible stray cat problem and the cats will go under any trailer they can get under and they tear the hell out of the undersides.

But then yesterday morning, at about 5:30, my furnace made some hellish noise for a couple of minutes and then the noise stopped. I shrugged and went back to sleep. At about 8:45, the smoke alarm went off and the house started filling with smoke. I went into panic mode and called the fire department. I got to be the talk of trailertrashland yesterday. I had the sherrif here, 4 (count ’em…4!) fire trucks, and a whole lot of onlookers waiting to see if my house was going up in flames.

Come to find out, the motor on the furnace was wired incorrectly (by one of the idiots who manages this damn park…although he is swearing innocence. I have heard from two other folks who work for this park that he did work on the furnace before I moved in.)

By the time the fire dept. got here, I was in full blown hysterics because the lady on the other end of 911 wouldn’t allow me inside to get my car keys and my dogs out of the damn trailer. There were no flames yet and all I had to do was open a door. I know there are safety procedures, but it’s not like I had to go all the way through the place. When the sherrif got here, he let me in to get the dogs. Some of my neighbors that live around me took various critters for the day so they didn’t have to be in the smoke filled house.

The heating and cooling guy I had out had to put in a new motor and he has to get a new switch. Hopefully, he’ll be out here today to put in the switch.

The house still stinks, but it’s not unliveable. All the critters are back home and we are all fine. Or at least mostly fine. I now have a huge fear of natural gas and furnaces, and leaving my dogs unattended. Yesterday was Sable-dog’s 11th birthday, and I had plans to get up and take him to Petsmart for birthday treats. If all this had taken place a half hour later, I would have been up and gone and two of the three dogs would have been here alone. By the time anyone noticed that there was smoke and called 911 the whole place could have gone up. The only thing that worked in my favor was that I was still home. Damn. Going to work for 8 hours today is going to be hard.

ryn: the list confuses me too lol thank god you and your critters are safe! it seems like a lot of places these days are gas (we’re house hunting) and it’s hard to get oil. I know having oil doesn’t prevent this sort of thing from happening but it’s a lot less toxic and its a lot harder to die from gas fumes. I never even thought of the “what if i’m not home and this happens” that’s another

good reason to stay away from gas 🙁

OMG! I am glad that you were home and that you are all safe. Sounds very scary. I hope things start improving soon.

LOL. You’ve run into the god that hates trailers. I know him well. Nothing surprises me anymore. I got over surprises when the kitchen floor was soaked by water from melting snow leaking in through the damned exhaust fan. Figure that one? Praise be, I found an honest plumber who found and fixed the leak even if it had nothing to do with pipes. lol

RYN: LOL. I am so sorry! I was trying to figure out who I knew in Michigan and decided it must be something political. I’ll remember next time. I would have loved talking to you.
