More pics…and they are not of the dogs!!!
Noters Beware!! This is a “mean-note” free diary.
I went to Lake Michigan last week one day and walked out on the pier with the lighthouse in Muskegon. I could live down there, it is so beautiful–at least during the summer. Not so sure I’d feel the same in the winter. I do need to go get more shots again soon. I am just so bummed that the weather this year is so “off”. We’ll have 1 day in the low 80’s, but then we’ll have 4 in the 70’s. This Saturday is only supposed to be 69 degrees. It’s not helping the water temperature in the lake at all, which is making it so I don’t want to hang down by the beach much. Ordinarily, I’d be there as much as possible. I do wish the weather would warm up. Summer is what keeps me going through the long winters we have here. But, the day I picked to take these shots was warm, at least for walking along the beach and such, and the day was very sunny.
This first shot is of a sailboat that drifted by when I was out on the pier.
Next, is a shot of a beautiful building looking back towards the shore. There is another smaller pier and lighthouse next to this building. I don’t know exactly what it is. I’ll have to research it and find out.
The whole pier has huge rocks on both sides. Every now and then, one would have a perfectly round hole drilled in it. I don’t know what they were for–the only thing I can figure is that it must have had something to do with moving the rocks into place when they built the pier. Not many of the rocks have the holes. Just one here and one there. I just liked how the sun was shining on the back of this hole.
This is looking up at the lighthouse on the pier.
And finally, I got this wonderful shot of two swans that were swimming right next to the pier. They followed me the whole length of the pier out to the lighthouse. I blew this pic up to an 8.5 by 11 inch on my home printer and it is incredible. I am thinking of entering it into our county fair. (I just have to figure out how in the hell you do that. I entered some of my pics years ago-and by years, I mean waaaaay before there was digital-and got some ribbons. I have checked their website, but it keeps saying that forms will be uploaded soon. The fair is in a few weeks so they’d better hurry up.)
I have had 3 people not believe me when I said I took this pic. I don’t know what the heck. But really, I did. It’s real, and I didn’t do anything to it. It’s straight from my memory card on my camera. I don’t see what’s so weird about it-at least to the part of my taking the shot. I was in photography in college for a while. And sometimes I have an eye for good shots. It kind of comes and goes, but when I am on my game, I can get some great shots. It was a good photo day. I got some of my friends that turned out well that day, too. Can’t explain it any other way… 🙂
Saw u on the front page: Wonderful pics. That water is so smooth and calm looking.

Quite possibly the holes in hte stones are from the quarry, and are the vestiges of the hole drilled into the living rock for the explosives used to blast them apart.
