Auld Lang Syne 2011, Come What May 2012

Hello guys! Yet another post in a very long time, yet another perennial sending-the-year-off post. Haha. Hope you guys have been doing well throughout 2011. Special shoutout to those who have sent me heartfelt messages and sorry for the late responses, haven’t had the time to write these days. Anyways, let’s get down to business. If you could summarize 2011 into 1 word, what would it be?

‘Awesome’ would be mine.

In particular was the summer of 2011. Best.Summer.Ever. Nuff said. The countless events that I’ve been to, the countless friendships forged and the countless lives I’ve had the honour and pleasure to touch, were in one word – Priceless. Never regretted getting to know so many awesome people. And I hope that each and everyone of these friendships will grow and strengthen in 2012.

Another highlight of 2011 was my elections. Heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported me all the way. It was super humbling to know how much people believed in me and what I stand for. Thank You. I will not let you down. Promise.

But of course, summarizing a year in one word is really a long shot. Stuff always happen in between and far from few.

2011 was a year full of choices. Choices on whether to be involved, on whether to step up, on whether to take the risks. In every choice that we make, I’ve learnt that there are no punishments, only consequences. Opportunity cost is always present. More often than not, we pay dearly for much of the choices we make. Be it choices in schools, in relationships, in jobs etc. But also, more often than not, we reap its benefits and we gain happiness for some we make. When faced with a choice, some may be too frightened to make one, leaving one with the what if’s – the what could/would/might have beens.

When things are unfamiliar, or when we are unsure, or are afraid, we often turn back, wanting to cling on to things that are familiar, to things that are safe, to things that we know. All we want to do when circumstances are unknown is to go back to a time where everything is comfortable, to know that we are safe.

To those who are afraid, I pray that you find the courage soon. Because, providence is blind when you’re terrified. A new year brings countless possibilities and opportunities. Don’t be afraid to face them and grab them. Your time is your’s to take. Your happiness is your’s to make. No one can ever take them from you. And you should never let anyone take that from you. Chase your dreams. Don’t be afraid. Make a choice. Take that step. Tell that someone. Do it.

To you who are afraid, you can’t love if you’re too afraid to fall. You have to take that leap of faith, take that fall. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be worth it all. But no man’s a judge to another’s jury. Whatever decision you make, stick with it and see it through. To forget may be hard, but it may be the best road to take. But fret not, it’s not the end. The thing about magic is, it often comes when you least expect it. And I hope and pray for you that you’ll find it someday, but only when you’re ready. Never stop believing. It is only in believing that there can be hope. And hope brings possibilities. I wish I could help to make you smile on the inside, but that’s a task only you can take. And take it you will, because I believe that you’re strong enough. Auld Lang Syne.

To you who made that choice. I respect it and I wish you well. But I hope that you never turn back, because if you do, I won’t be there anymore. This is the consequence you’ll have to face and its my choice to make. Auld Acquaintance be forgot.

Lessons learnt; Bridges burnt.

It is surprising and humbling to know that even now, I still learn so much about myself. Trials and tribulations have made me realise so much more, learn so much more. And I know what I have to do now. Thank you for the lessons learnt. It is self-worth that dignifies a person. And you only deserve the best. If they don’t see it, they never will. There is someone out there who’s worth the time, the effort, and most of all, you. Someone who deserves you and you of them.

To Gee if you’re reading this:
This one’s for you and me, living out our dreams.
You used to say that I couldn’t give you enough, so I started giving you up.
When our lips first touched, you said you’d never let go
But you did
And you moved on
So should I.
You used to say that I couldn’t save you enough, so I started saving it up.
Guess what, I’m Superman now 🙂

Auld Lang Syne, because everyone’s forgiven now, because tonight’s the night the world begins again.

And you asked me what I want this year, my answer?
That maybe we’ll find better days.

A very Happy New Year to one and all! Hope everything goes well for you and those that you care about! 2012 holds new hopes and possibilities, and I hope everyone finds what they are looking for!

Fingers crossed, I’ll blog more this year haha! All the best for the new year! Stay healthy and be happy! 🙂
