oh for pete’s sake

visa called me just a little while ago.  they cover my bank account card.
wanted to know if i had been making some large purchases today.

stop and let’s back up for a half a minute….. i was online looking at some clearance stuff(sterling silver twisted jump rings and deciding that i wanted to buy them at a really low cost.
i wasn’t sure if i wanted to use my card or the joint card to get them.  i don’t like using the joint card, because then i have to make a transfer from my account to the joint account to cover the deduction….

i had just pulled up our accounts page when my cell phone rang.  i didn’t recognize the number, but answered it anyway.  i’m so glad i did.  i was telling her how weird this was and as we were talking and she was making sure that i was the me who was me, i saw a $218 charge to a company in new york.  it was to a website.  i pulled up the web address and it was a makeup site.
then i saw 3 more charges to other places.  one was a place called madeinchina.com and it was for 97.00 dollars.  the other two transactions were for 1.00 dollar each.

i’ve been on the phone for the past half hour with visa, and then with my bank.  i have to go to the bank in the morning to make a report and to begin a dispute process.

the last time i used this card was in walmart.  but it could have happened over the internet too.  i have sort of thumbed my nose at dedicating paypal to use for all my purchases.   i don’t think i will fuss about it anymore.

the first charge looks like it was on 12/05.  same day i went to walmart.
dang.

ryn: Of course…I posted it in and edit…lol

What a pain!

Oh, darn. I am so sorry, Jule. I had an email the other day about the cash back function whereby the clerk takes $20 or $40 without the card holder knowing. Apparently this is a WalMart specialty in some cities. Rotten, isn’t it?

Probably was someone hacked your computer, did you check your anti-virus to see if there was anything unusual? BTW, thanks for putting me in your favorites on Etsy.

Crap!

I wonder how they nabbed your card number. I don’t trust Paypal – I bought something a few years back using Paypal and never received it and Paypal was of no help.

oh that is so scary!

RYNote, oh I wish …………!! My brain seems to be wired wrongly to acquire and store new Languages, but I do like the German word for walking, ‘Gelaufen’ It seems to describe my gate when I’m trying to keep up with my Daughter and Lola on the beach; gelaufen along!

Sorry to see your having card problems, it has happened to us, usually after dealing with a small dealers on line; some thing we avoid now. Our Banks are hot on this, last time I bought air-line tickets the Bank contacted me about a purchase in the USA, what purchase! The flight was Cornwall to Manchester, it turned out the insurance was based in the USA! Hope you have your cash back soonest
