Windy nights and Monday always get me down
To quote Karen Carpenter, almost. We don’t get too many rainy days here and when we do it’s time to celebrate! Windy days and nights are altogether another thing. They knock things around outside, cause sleepless nights and general unrest in the house. I woke up with a killer headache this morning after a restless windy night. We live in the land of Enchantment, yeah right! When the weather man has put together a whole weather map system based on wind speeds, all color coded, it’s not a good thing. This is wind season as it’s rain season in so many other parts of the country. At least with no rain my RA isn’t kicking my butt! The neuropathy is better too!
So I worked my tail off this weekend to try and get outfits ready for fittings on Sunday afternoon only to have them forget and totally blow me off. I know they’re busy people with lots going on but this was scheduled the week before. I didn’t send her any kind of reminders and we’ll see how long it takes her to reschedule the fittings. I did poke her twice via texts yesterday and she didn’t respond until I sent her a pic text with a picture of her dress in progress. We’ll see what happens. The event these outfits are for is less than 2 weeks away.
On a more humorous note, we were all in the kitchen last night working on getting supper ready. Buddy was putting away clean dishes while I was making salads and Hubby was helping me and doing the pasta. Buddy was complaining about not getting enough "help" putting away dishes and flicked some water from the clean dishes at Hubby. He retaliated by telling him he could do the rest of supper by himself. I swatted Buddy on the rear and told him to behave himself and then he flicked more water at Hubby. I turned away and just as Hubby announced he has half a cucumber in him hand and he could be pressed to use it. I crack up, Buddy leaves the kitchen telling us we’re both sick and then Hubby and I crack up even harder. Poor Buddy, we’re dragging him kicking and screaming into the adult world of what healthy, happily married couples act like. I keep telling him that what Hubby and I have is real and my previous marriage was such a farce that I want to give him a good example of loving adults. He rolls his eyes when Hubby and I kiss or make any innuendos but I feel it’s a much healthier education for Buddy. He’s 15 and he’s not going to learn anything of the sort from his dad who isn’t with anyone and hasn’t been for years, except a gold digger, but that’s for another time.
This week the plumbers are scheduled to start the sewer line replacement under the house. We have a crawl space under the house and no concrete slab so no complications there. They have a digging machine the burrows under the ground and will make the hole for the pipe to go into then they will have to dig a bigger hole where the connection to the city line happens by the front sidewalk. I’ll probably lose a big section of prickly pears by the front walk but that’s OK too, they can be transplanted easily. The problem is the stupid orangeburg pipe they used for drainage pipes in our neighborhood. It’s made of thick layers of tar paper compressed into a pipe. It pre-dated PVC and acts the same way except roots can grow through it and compress it. That’s the problem we have, tree roots have compressed the pipe down to 1/4 of it’s normal size. The plumber put a camera down the run of pipe and found the compression about half way between the back of the house and the street. Our neighborhood is almost 60 years old so most of these problems are related to the age of the houses. It’s got a hefty price tag too, about $4000 for the job but all kinds of guarantees that it will remain clean and clear for a long time to come. Good thing for tax refunds!
I’m waiting on the tylenol to take affect on the insomnia induced headache and get on with my day. Hopefully tonight we’ll all get a better night’s sleep and the winds will go away for awhile.
Wind, wind, go away, come again some other day. Little J wants to play. Wind, wind go away!

I love wind. hate rain. But I’m sure it’s a regional thing.

I just like sunshine! Lol! I remember cringing at my parents’ inuendos – my best example would be: Dad points tv remote control at mum. Mum – are you trying to switch me off? Dad – no, turn you on Mum and dad head upstairs… X x
