Signs of the times, and goggie update

First, the Tara-Bear update. 2 days and no seizure activity. She’s back to being herself again and wanting to play but we’re still being very cautious about too much activity yet. I did let her out in the courtyard yesterday so she could sunbathe on the porch, one of her favorite post breakfast activities! She seems to be doing really well and even the stiffness from the muscular contractures of the seizure seem to have abated for now. Huzzah!!!

Signs are everywhere and yesterday I was given pause on a certain one. I parked next to a car that had a PETA bumper sticker on it showing a rat and asking to save innocent animals from testing.. Now, my husband is a research biologist and I know that the test animals are not only necessary but are treated ethically. The animals are constantly monitored for well being but also given enrichment’s to keep them occupied. If animal testing didn’t exist, the FDA would have a hard time approving many medical treatments. Do you want to volunteer for medical testing on unknown drugs?? Yep, thought so. Hubby jokes about torturing and killing small animals for a living but that’s about the furthest thing from the truth.

Buddy and I talk about driving skills and signs driving to and from school every day. He’s 15, has his driver’s permit and is trying to log the 60+ hours in the next 6 months in order to take his driver’s test. He can’t drive my car, standard, but I need to get the clunker fixed up so I can do more driving time with him. His dad is handling most of it so far but his skills are so bad that I really want to be more involved with actually teaching him. Hopefully we can get the car in to the shop soon and get it running so I can teach him real driving skills.

One of the signs of the times is how our local economy is doing. A restaurant near Buddy’s school recently got a whole new face lift and obvious signs of opening under a new owner and new type of cuisine. Problem is, there’s been a sign out front for months saying "open soon" and they still haven’t yet. Also, about a month ago advertising for help and to apply at certain hours and still no signs of it opening. Makes me wonder what happened.

You can tell it’s election time with all the bumper stickers on every cause and every political stance. It’s amazing how inflammatory some of them get! What’s really amazing are the stickers from previous elections, especially for the losers. Don’t people ever remove those silly things? Personally, I don’t do bumper stickers like that, don’t want to make my car a target for anyone’s temper. On my car are stickers for the local SCA group and one of those "fish" ones except mines a cat.

The signs are out there, just ask Mel Gibson….

signs, signs, everywhere the signs, blocking out the scenery breaking my mind, do this don’t do that can’t you read the signs…

RYN: Wow, how awful that man used to find ways to brush up against you at work. And there’s nothing you could do before sexual harassment became against the law. Thank goodness they did that. I’ve started getting election telephone calls, and not all are robo calls. Ugh, much worse than bumper stickers. At least those I can ignore. I’m with you, I wouldn’t want to make my car a target for someone who disagrees with me. I work with a lady who has about 20 bumper stickers on her car about all types of causes, not election ones. A couple are kind of funny.

Thanks for stopping by, and by the way, Congratulations on your wedding!! I enjoyed reading your front page, you are Blessed!! Hope to continue to read your entries. :o)
