Dinos and Cows and Bison, Oh My!!!
Dr. Robert (Bob) Bakker and Buddy!! This was at the Black Hills Institute, home to Stan the T-Rex and Sue’s original home. Bob was just there visiting and taking care of house and kitties for owner Peter Larson while he was out in the field. AWESOME!!!! A once in a lifetime experience and such a thrill to just talk to Bob and get his advice on college, internships and Buddy’s artwork! Believe it or not, his straw cowboy hat was sitting on a bench just to my right as I was taking the photo! Bob was working on a Dimetrodon skull, coping saw is still in his right hand and magnifying visor pushed up while we were talking to him. Killer sense of humor too!
The big man himself, STAN!!!
Scale model of the excavation of Sue. Yes, the famous one from the Chicago museum, found in the Hell Creek formation.
Dracorex Hogwartsia, named after the book series.
Can you tell we had fun at this museum!?
Buddy did some sketching and besides meeting Bob, the museum store is fantastic and we ate a a restaurant recommended by Bob and half the museum staff.
Buddy sitting on a b!!bench sketching a Rex, just below Stan.
AHHHH!!! He’s eating Buddy!!!!
Buddy at Rushmore. Hard to believe, we were actually that close!
Majestic beauty!
yep, been there and done that, got the bumper sticker!
Animated T-Rex, pretty cheesy! The little kids screamed when he popped up!
Jack a lope anyone? Me and one big Hare!
outside of New Salem, ND. a BIG cow!
at Jamestown, ND, the BIG Bison!
At about this point Buddy asked me what’s up with the huge animal statues. I told him it was for tourism and to bring in more people.
I will definitely post more pics at another time since we took something like 400 pics on our trip.

I used to live and work in North Dakota. I was the health inspector in New Salem and SW ND… they put the cow up instead of a town swimming pool… I never understood it…

Wow what a time you had! I don’t understand random sculpted animals placed in odd places.
