Grave Yard Shift

Someone just mentioned that being up late or early depending on how you look at it was being on the grave yard shift.

Over the years I have worked on many late night and early morning shifts. Not sure I loved or liked any of them.

Working at the glass plant was my first experience at working on the 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM grave yard shifts. Those were some strange hours but the pay was great and I was just out of high school and had no problems with either.

The military shift work was the strangest grave yard shifts I have ever worked since those shifts could be at any hour and any time and the pay was always the same.

Time spent on the 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM shifts with the police department were also strange since we worked those shifts a month at a time. I could never get use to the shift before it was time to switch again.

More time in the military with even stranger shifts in places where the grave yard shift had the sun shining at 3:00 AM was not all that great but it was workable.

Security grave yard shifts at IBM were the worst I ever pulled. I could never get the pace down on those shifts. It seemed like the hours between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM were the hours that I could not keep my eyes open. Some security!

Not sure I ever adjusted to working after dark. It was always more fun to play after dark.
