How do I stop going on bender’s of porn? I’m sorry if my diary seems to be repeating this over and over, but it is a rut that I seem to have been stuck in for — well, since I became a christian. I had a dream last night that I hardly remember, except for the fact that I ended up having sex before marriage again. I can’t find a good medium between masturbating healthily and getting into my addictive routine. It seems the only way I’ll be able to do this is to abstain from masturbating completely, because as ‘healthy’ as masturbating can be, for me it’ll just lead me to lust, and then to worse things.

Sigh. This is going to be hard. Please pray for me. I need help.

The cool thing about having Jesus Christ as your savior as that he does forgive you. You don’t have to be perfect. Jesus “expects” you to TRY to be like him, but he understands that will we trip (and sometimes fall) and he is more than ready to take us back into his loving arms whenever that happens. When I know I’m tempted to do something, I try to avoid those situations .

For example, if I had a problem with porn, I’d get my internet disconnected at my home. It seems harsh, but if you feel like God is trying to tell you that you need to stay away from it, you have to do whatever it takes. There is a difference between ‘trying’ not to look at porn and making sure you don’t put yourself in the position to fail. As far as masturbation goes, I think it’s healthy.

And I also think it’s natural. God created us to be sexual beings, people who like to have pleasure. (But, like you said, the lusting is the problem that goes along with masturbation.) So, I guess my advice would be: keep yourself away from sources of porn (internet, TV, whatever), pray for God to help you with the temptation, and when you feel the urge to look at it, divert your attention —

— to something else. Good luck. 🙂 And remember, God is a loving and forgiving God and he will always forgive you if you honestly seek it.
