For the customers
It’s another way too hot day to do much so I’m hanging out here at home with Ella. Though we did go to the playground earlier before the real heat set in and later we’ll go swimming at the Y. So I thought I would take a few minutes to write my little letter to all the lovely customers I get to deal with.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for shopping and helping to pay my salary with your purchase but there’s a few things I would like to let you in on. First don’t get mad at me and yell when you can’t use your coupon for the purchase. I have no control over the exclusions and have the same problem as you do in using the coupons. The truth is most of the restrictions are from the manufactures, mostly the high end designer names who don’t want and won’t allow their stuff to be sold at a discount. So yes you don’t get any discount but you do have great taste.
Second please don’t get upset when I ask if you have a store charge and if you don’t would you like to open a new account. I don’t really care what issues, problems, whatever you had last time you did have our charge. Truth is I have to ask since we are expected to open a minimum of 2 accounts every week. I really don’t like to ask and I’m not really a big believer in using credit cards for most purchases. That’s probably why in part I rarely do make that 2 account number.
Next on sales, first the morning specials that usually end at 1 pm, I know that’s afternoon but that’s what they call the specials, if you come in 20 minutes late we can usually still give you the price. All you have to do is ask nicely. That said don’t come 8 hours later, or the next day for that matter, and get upset when you can’t get the special. The ad page clearly gives the hours of the special and I’m not going to change the price and having me call a manager won’t make a difference. All that will do is waste your time and mine and not get the price changed.
Finally if you bring your kids with you while shopping please keep them under control. I know all the mattresses look tempting and jumping on them and from one to the next in the row looks fun. But the kids could get hurt and I’m sure you would be quick to blame me and store for that. Just ask would you let them do that home? I didn’t think so and so the question is why do you tolerate them doing it in public?
That’s all for now, have a great day and don’t get into too much trouble.
Yeah, I stayed in and pissed of the yard work because of heat. So THATS why they ask me all the time when I go into fashion bug if I want to sign up for credit. I never did understand why people get so mad at the employees that have nothing to do with the problem.

That’s a great idea, writing a letter. I should do that next time I have an angry parent blaming me for their lazy child’s lack of success in the classroom. Enjoy the heat, I wish I was experiencing that too!

First of all, about your entry, SERIOUSLY, I have never worked in customer service, YET, but I hate watching employees get crap for stuff they can’t control, especially since the thing they usually can’t control is their customers bad day. And thanks for the note, its nice not to feel alone. That journal makes me want to scream sometimes lol.
