Dizzy

Sorry I haven’t much time to write but the last week has been crazy.  First off it was inventory time at work and one night I ended up working until 2 am and still had to get up in the morning at 6 am to get Cindi and Ella up.  Plus I then had to run into the Philadelphia, about 30 mile drive or so then to work for a full shift.  Oh what fun working on about 3 hours sleep but I did it and continued to kick butt.

Next up was the worries with my Mom, Tuesday she was complaining of being dizzy but dismissing it as either blood pressure, which she’s on meds for, or low blood sugar.  Seems it’s a bad thing we don’t have desserts with dinner every night.  Well she just kept insisting nothing was wrong, even after almost falling a couple of times and saying I talk with the doctor when I have my monthly appointment today (Thursday).  Finally Cindi and I forced her to go the doctor that day, which I’ve heard my Mom on the phone blaming on Cindi and saying it wasn’t needed.  Anyway the doctor couldn’t find a cause but did give her some medicine to help and that has controlled the dizziness for now.

But this real brought to focus for me just how much my Moms decision making is really eroding and she’s not making good choices.  The facts with this is she’s 81 with some bone density issues, a bad hip that she’s ignoring the doctors advice to replace and living in a house with steps that she’s alone in for up to 8 hours a day.  So any fall could be a potentially very bad thing and with her health plan the doctors visit didn’t cost anything.  It made no sense to refuse and delay the visit.

Well that’s all for now, so have a great day and smile.

It can be so challenging caring for someone who still thinks they are capable of doing it themselves. I’m sorry about the trouble – I hope you guys figure out what is wrong!

I’m sorry it’s so difficult with your mother. I hope everything will be ok. and ryn: I’m going to try your idea of mixing it up a little. I think that just may do the trick! Thanks!
