Iggy Pop and the Stooges
I heard Iggy and the Stooges at Festival Hall on Wednesday. My ears were ringing all the next day. I enjoyed it, the band were marvellous, but I am getting too old for that kind of volume. I think I will just buy a cd in the future. Pete had earplugs in, he sees a lot more bands than I do.
Before the show started I was wondering when Iggy would take his shirt off. That question was answered when Iggy hobbled on stage shirtless, no need for a transition. The first song was Raw Power, followed by a lot of other classics. High energy.
The support band was Beasts of Bourbon, who sounded terrific also. The one thing the show lacked was any agro vibe, everyone was there to enjoy themselves. The queues to the bars were too long to bother with, perhaps that stopped some drunken aggression.
Now the Easter break has started, I don’t go back to work until Wednesday. Claudia and Ella are off to Perth on Saturday. I don’t have any plans other than doing some painting and drawing and a minimum of chores, just enough to keep the house in order. There will probably be an Easter Sunday lunch for me and dad and Barbara but we haven’t organised it yet.
