One wish + Thanksgiving
The end of my Thanksgiving break has come all too quickly. I am ready to go back and see my kidlets again, but I love having time off school to do what I want and shop and rest. Can it last for just a couple more days?
We put up our Christmas tree today. It’s a 4.5 foot pre-lit tree. I like it well enough, but when you’ve grown up with real Christmas trees all your life, a fake one will never measure up, no matter how real it looks. There’s just something about being outside, choosing the perfect tree and the smell…oh, the smell is wonderful! Nope, not even a pine scented candle can beat the smell of a real tree. Since the real ones are so expensive, we decided to go for a fake one that we can use over and over again. If I could have one wish for Christmas, it would be to afford a real Christmas tree every year. Kory and I figure there’s better things to do with our money than spend it on a tree that will be in our home for about a month and then just recycled. We’re saving for our anniversary trip to Vegas. We want to stay in one of the hotels on the strip. I’m shooting for the Bellagio.
One would think that the holidays would be so fun with my 1st graders. I will admit, it’s a great time to be with them and do fun things, but it’s so much work to think about them and think about family and get everything done that needs to be done. It’s exhausting. I’m already trying to plan for Winter/Christmas projects that we will do in our classroom. There’s just not enough time in the day to do it all!!
Well, not much else is happening. Mom and Dad were able to come for Thanksgiving break. They even got to go to the Holy War game–BYU vs. University of Utah. We won in the last minute of the game by a touchdown! Intense game. Good game! Watch it if you didn’t see it! Now we’re ranked 19 in the BCS polls and we are very excited about it!
We had Thanksgiving at my Aunt’s house. Total number of people eating there: 36. My family (7), our "adopted" sister and her husband (2), Cousin Lora plus her kids (4), cousin Leanne and Phil and their 3 children (5), David and Lisa and their 5 children (7), Dan and Maddie (2) Sadie and her three (4), Sadie’s brother (1), another girl named Aly (1), my aunt and uncle (2), and another aunt (1). Yeah, full house! We even had tons of leftovers! Amazing, huh?
Anyway, that’s all.
Love,
Me
