So far, this week has been great!  After my kids got out early yesterday (as they always do on Monday’s), I went over to Stella’s and got to hold (for the 2nd time in 2 days) her newborn baby, Mary Elizabeth.  SHE IS SO CUTE!  Yeah, I got to hold her for like two hours.  Most of the time she was asleep, but who cares when a baby is that adorable with so much hair and good company!  I love her.

After baby time, Kory and I went to get me a very early (2 months) birthday present.  JoAnn’s was having a great sale on scrapbook storage totes and I saw one I liked so Kory said it’s early birthday but I get to use it now.  Hee hee!  We also went to Barnes and Noble cuz he’s got giftcards up to his neck.  Didn’t find much, but I am happy about my tote!

Today was fantastic as well.  This morning we had a pretty normal schedule.  Lunch was funky because our afternoon schedule was getting messed with.  This afternoon, our whole school got to have Morris Almond as a visitor (he’s a member of the Utah Jazz, but plays in the D-league until he gets better at basketball) because we got 11th place in the JAZZ read-a-thon with over 600,000 minutes read as a school.  He is so much fun!! We were having a blast.  He read us two stories, both of which were hilarious.  You could tell he hadn’t ever read either of those books before and probably didn’t have tons of experience reading to little kids, especially a group of about 500.  My favorite part was…everything! He was very personable and excellent with the kids.  When he asked if anyone knew what a rookie was, a second grader responded "A champion?!"  Morris liked that, answer.  It was great!

My kids were wound up after that whole experience.  We spent the rest of the afternoon writing thank you notes to Morris and eating ice cream.  The ice cream was part of our reward for 11th place and, much to my amazement, each child, yes, each student, got their own PINT of ice cream!  CRAZYYYY!  So there we were at 3:00 in the afternoon eating ice cream and writing letters.

I stress about little Carlos.  He has great ideas, but horrible spelling and even worse sound spelling.  UGH!  I’m not quite sure how to help him because he needs one-on-one time and I don’t have that to offer unfortunately.  Anyone out there want to tutor the cutest 7 year old on the planet?  He’s got dimples that will steal your hearrrrrttttt? Well,  I do have one idea to help him.  I hope it works out because bless his heart he tries so hard!

All in all, the week has started out well.  I hope it stays this way.

Love,

Sounds like an amazing week so far! And a very merry un-birthday to you!. lol. Just a question, do you have a Title 1 program at your school? Because I remember when I was that age I had some of the same problems that Carlos is having, and that helped me A LOT!! And now my brother Robbie is doing the same thing, and it helps him loads too. aw. That sounds like an awesome assembly for the kids. And Mary Elizabeth is ridiculously adorable. (And, wow, I’m a mom. That’s weird/cool/intimidating.) Come hold her again soon!

That’s crazy!! I really wish that public schools had the resources that they actually needed to help students succeed. Hugs,
