’twasn’t meant to be…
I was listening to the radio this morning, and one of the deejay’s said that she was auditioning for American Idol in New Jersey in eleven days.
Eleven days!! I thought to myself, no way they’re that soon!
After having been told for pretty much all of last fall by more than one of my coworkers that I should try out for American Idol, being told by my sister that she overheard my church choir director tell his girlfriend that my voice was “phenomenal,” plus within the last few months, having been asked to audition for a talent search in Baltimore, I’ve become {{slightly}} more confident about my singing abilities. (I actually nervously declined the talent search–I should have done it, but ah well… Perhaps if I can get the nerve up, I’ll record myself singing and post it here–I promise it isn’t as pretty as I seem to have made it out to be thus far).
As a result of all that, however, I had decided that this was the year that I was going to try out for American Idol; but in the wake of summer classes, and work, and just general busy-ness, I’d forgotten to look to see when dates were. So as soon as I heard that the auditions were sooner than I expected, I hopped onto the website, to check dates and locations. Of course the NJ one (which is more like NYC because of where in NJ it is) is the closest to me, and the only one I can get to without necesitating air travel (which I decidedly cannot afford). August 14th. I began to get excited… only eleven days away!
Oh but wait! You knew it couldn’t be that easy, didn’t you? In TEN days, I’m going to Myrtle Beach to visit my dear friend Millie. Myrtle Beach. North Carolina. No where near New Jersey.
Ah well. ‘Twasn’t meant to be–this year anyway. Perhaps next year. *smile*
Also, answer these questions for me. Then post them in your diary to see what people think of you:
1. After reading my diary, what kind of person do you think I am?
2. If you could give me one piece of advice, what would it be?
3. What draws you in to my entries? Is this why you continue reading me?
Ah! Maybe next year…? 1. You are quirky, analytical, funny and sexy! 2. Stop worrying about so much stuff out of your control 3. Your entries are always different – they’re not just the boring day-to-day routine some people write about. Oh, and I continue to read for my Jen-fix! Haha! Ahem.

Hopefully next year!
