such a pretty color! *bloody edit*

In my humble opinion, one of the prettiest colors on the face of the earth is blood red.

Except when it’s coming out of a cut that happens to be somewhere that would suggest to an unknowning bystander that you need more than one type of doctor to fix it (if you know what I mean), and it wont stop bleeding and you have no bandages or antibiotic ointment and it really was an accident, because all you wanted to do was get in the shower, and you were trying to adjust the angle of the showerhead, and you dropped your hand just a little too quickly, and it scraped right against your razor hanging from the wall.

The best part is, it didn’t even scrap the razor part of the razor. It scraped the plastic casing that attaches the razor to the shower wall.

The water washes it away briefly, but the blood comes back. You apply pressure with two fingers of your other hand, and raise it high above your head. Pressure and elevation, you remember from countless biology and health classes. But all you want is to get a shower, because you’re gross and sweaty from work among other things, so you drop your arm, and remove your other hand. The blood rushes back as though it had never gone. You rinse again, (the water stings) and again it comes back.

Ignoring it, you go for the soap. Washing everything, saving the bleeding wrist for last. Just a little soap, to clean it. Getting out of the shower, is a chore, trying not to get blood on your clean towels. To the kitchen, where you get a paper towel. You try to manufacture a bandage out of the paper towel, a rubberband and some scotch tape, but it doesn’t apply enough pressure. The blood keeps coming. You look around. What do they use when you donate blood? Cotton balls and medical tape. Well if you haven’t got bandages, you haven’t got those. But… Cosmetic pads… and packaging tape. It will have to do. You affix it, and finally the bleeding stops.

But oh, such a pretty color it was!

*edit*

What I’d not anticipated, (which was bad of me, I should have known), was that since I was not using an orthodox bandage, it would stick to the wound. And when I took it off, the bleeding would start all over again. Even after I did it once, at about 8 this morning, in my state of half-asleep-ish-ness I didn’t realize my mistake, and simply made a new bandage. After doing it again 10 minutes ago, I decided to take a picture 🙂

It’s stopped bleeding now though. Hooray. I’ll also stop and buy bandaids on my way to the lacrosse game. Homecoming today! w00t!
