*Edit #2: My phone works now 🙂
Have you ever had one of those days where it just seems like everything’s going your way?
Yesterday morning, when I got to my first class, the doors were locked. We were waiting outside for half an hour for someone to come and unlock it. As a result, my 1.5 hour class only lasted for an hour. 🙂
In my second class of the day, the professor announced that this week’s homework wouldn’t be due until next week, which is good since I hadn’t really done it.
For dinner I decided to throw a bunch of (quasi-) random things together, and it tasted *really* good. I rock.
And finally, when I was cleaning my room, I discovered a pile of mail my mother had given me while I was at home, but I hadn’t really gone through. Mostly it was magazines and bills, and a couple of letters from the school’s housing and academic advising departments. I also had a few credit card offers, because I had been looking into applying for one with a 0% introductory APR so that I could transfer my other card’s balance and stop paying interest. I pulled one such offer out of the pile of mail, and pulled the first sheet of paper out of it, and suddenly something caught my eye. The words your new card is enclosed! didn’t make sense. I looked at what else was printed on the sheet and it said $5000 credit line. What?? I was so confused. I unfolded the sheet, and attached to it, there was a shiny new Platinum Visa Card, with a picture of a dolphin on it.
Of course! I’d completely forgotten! When Laurren and I went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore back in July, we’d both filled out those “sign up for a credit card and get a free t-shirt!” things. I never thought they’d actually give me credit, and since I wasn’t home when the card came in the mail, I never thought twice about it.
In a way, it’s good that I didn’t know I had it before, because who knows what things I would’ve talked myself into buying with a $5000 credit line. But now it’s just a complete blessing. I can transfer my other card’s balance to it so that it’ll stop accruing interest for at least the next six billing cycles, while I get back on my feet with working. I can also help my mom pay off the phone bill so I can get my phone turned back on AND after that, I can separate myself from my parents bill. And, having come so close to hitting absolute rock bottom, I have more of an appreciation for money now, so it’s doubtful that I’ll ever let myself get into such a situation ever again.
Even the fact that I spilled two tubs of dressing all over the floor at work wasn’t enough to ruin my mood after that.
And then last night, after work, just ended fantastically and carried over into today. But that’s another story for another day. Maybe.
(Oh, one other cool thing about the Aquarium card is that a portion of every purchase goes towards Wildlife Rescue Funds :-))
EDITDo you see this right here??? *points up* Do you?? My sitemeter?? It means I can see you.
