poem

Daddy, I love you

When you hold me tight

And kiss me goodnight

But Father, I hate you

When you smoke and you drink

And tell me I don’t think

And Daddy, I love you

When you tell me you’re proud

And you brag oh-so-loud

But Father, I hate you

When you scream and you yell

And tell me go to hell

And Daddy, I love you

When you say you love us

And there’s no one above us

But Father I hate you

When you threaten to leave

‘Cause that I don’t believe

And Daddy, I love you

‘Cause that’s what children should do

The parents should love unconditionally, too

But Father, I hate you

Because it seems to me

Whatever I am isn’t good enough to be

Since, Daddy, I love you

I try hard as I can,

In everything I do, to be the best that I can

But Father I hate you

‘Cause it’s not only me you hurt

Though sometimes it feels like I get it the worst

Since, Daddy, I love you

I won’t stop you—just go

If you think you need to, but first you must know

That Father, I hate you

But no matter what

Though I cry ‘cause we fought

I will always love you

You’re my Daddy

And I’m your little girl

How does that grab you?  Huh? If you’re not in tears by now, than you really are a cold-hearted SOB and maybe it’s better if you’re gone.
