my roommate’s still sleeping [PICS]
She went to bed before 10 last night. It is now after 11am, and she’s still sleeping. *gasp* she just moved. She’s getting something out of a drawer… and she’s up. Mahvellous.
Anywhos. The move went well, except for me getting here and realizing i have at least three items that are considered contraband. My toaster, my coffeepot, and my crockpot. If I get caught with either of them, there’s a $100 penalty plus loss of my appliance. So I have to take those home, ASAP because at the moment they’re taking up valuable storage space in my closet. This room is tiny, and any storage space at all is a precious commodity. Although I’ll have more space once I sell the books that I brought to sell… I best go list those on Amazon.. I wonder if anything’s actually gonna sell when it’s mid-semester everywhere else. Meh, it’s worth a shot. I’ll just relist them if they expire.
Hmm, I want to take a picture of the room so y’alls can see the tininess for yourselves, but I don’t want to do it while Roommate is here. And I can’t tell if the water she’s running is in the shower or if she’s just washing her face in the sink….
*runs to take pictures*
okay everything above was written two days after I moved in…. two weeks ago. I’m just now getting to finishing it. so sue me. Anywhos… lets see what I can do to bring y’all up to date. Okay, first of all, the pictures that I had taken of my room. I’m too lazy to resize so these are kinda biggish.
as soon as you walk in the front door. My bed is the far one.
I took this pic so you could see how *little* room there was between the desk chair and the end of the bed. again, my desk is the far one.
another view of the beds
my desk and the fridge
another pic to show how close the desk is to the bed.
The next few are all pics of the view out my window.
Anywhos. It had been gorgeous, so later that day I decided to explore the neighborhood around me. I already knew from having visited back in February that I was only a few blocks from the Promenade, so I walked down there. On my way down to the water, I walked past a cute little indie theater and checked showtimes. I decided I’d come back for a 3 o’clock show, and headed down to the Promenade.
off to the right side of the picture you can see the brooklyn bridge.
and this is one view of the manhattan skyline.
I could also see the statue of liberty from where I sat, but she was just a little too far in the distance to capture properly.
I sat there for awhile, just taking in the view and the breeze, although I was annoyed with myself for not bringing a book to read. I attempted to use my phone to find someplace for dinner, but the sites i was trying to browse were all flash sites which wouldn’t load properly on the pda. Around quarter of, I headed back to the theater, and bought a ticket for The Page Turner, which a quick check on IMDB (god i love my pda) told me was a french film. I don’t know how many of you know this, but I have a mini-fetish for subtitles. I even set them on films that I know the language, just because I’d rather read my movies? *shrugs* The movie was good, albeit a little slow.
After the movie, I cam back to my room and looked up on my laptop what my phone couldn’t, and I found a Chipotle in walking distance! Hooray!! I also looked up how to get to the mall from Chipotle, and went shopping afterwards. And that was the end of that Friday.
To be continued…
