moooommm… there’s nothing on the internet!

So why is it, that day after day, in my free time, I find myself planted in front of this glowing screen? I sit here and I click. First OpenDiary. Then xanga. Then OKCupid. Then my email. Then Myspace, and Facebook. Then to my forum/irc chat site. Then I compulsively check away messages. Then I sit and stare at the screen waiting for something to happen. Sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing it until 15 minutes have passed and I realize that I did nothing at all. So I begin the click cycle again. Because there’s a chance, a chance that in those 15 minutes something somewhere has changed. Except it never does. The internet is like that soap opera that you could stop watching for weeks or even months on end. When you come back, nothing of significance has occurred, and its almost as though you’d never stopped watching. Furthermore, the internet is becoming homogenized. You can stumble across something you think is unique, and creative and fun, and as soon as you start getting a little further into it, you realize, ‘oh well this has been done before.’ Even as I write this I wonder if this is anything that hasn’t been said before. Is anything new? *sigh*

Anyway, in other news, today was Pi day (3.14! :-P). Carlini had a link to this site in her away message, and I clicked. Which led me to the site linked to at the top of the page (youmustchoose.com), which proved to be a mildly interesting occupier of 20 minutes or so, until I went to class.

Guess that’s all for now. Gawd, I even bore myself.

I know what you mean, I have a very set routine for getting online: yahoo, livejournal, mugglenet, artdungeon, university email, and if I remember OD. Then… there’s nothing left to do so I usually just go and read fanfiction…. 😀

RYN: Your thanks are well received. I did nothing that any friend would not have done. Have A Great Day!
