it’s been looking like xmas since before halloween
But now it’s finally starting to feel like christmas.
For whatever reason, I just haven’t been able to get into the holiday spirit this year. As of yesterday, which was exactly two weeks before Christmas day, I hadn’t done any holiday shopping at all. Hell, I hadn’t even done any brainstorming as to what I was going to get people. I still haven’t bought or sent out cards. Every year my mom asks me to do giftwrapping for my sisters–I live for wrapping gifts. But this year, their presents are still in my room, a week and half later at this point, and still not wrapped. (Although they will be wrapped by the end of the day, so don’t even think about it Mandi and Corey). And although I did take down fall/thanksgiving decorations last week, I haven’t put up any christmas ones. I only really have off work two, maybe three days between now and Christmas, and I have a CRAPLOAD to do. But it’s amazing how one or two tiny little things can suddenly change your mood.
Yesterday I saw these cool gift wrap kits at Redners. for only 6.99 you get four rolls of wrapping paper, 11 bows, 90 feet of curling ribbon, and 16 gift tags. All perfectly coordinated, of course. Normally you might pay two or three bucks just for each roll of paper, not including bows or ribbon. So it’s a very good deal. (I swear I’m not pushing Redners though. The mention is only there because that’s where I saw them, and thats where I practically live anymore.) Also at Redner’s we have these cool “Christmas Treasury” books. They’re about 200 pages, fully illustrated, and have a combonation of traditional and contemporary Christmas stories, poems, Christmas carols with musical scores, and descriptions of Christmas celebrations from around the world. The books are really gorgeous, and I couldn’t resist getting one for my little cousins, as well as one for myself. But just those two things, the books and the wrapping paper, was enough to jump-start my holiday mood. I began making a list of what I’m planning on getting for other people. Figuring out which days are best to go to which mall… and of course *drumroll* ebay shopping! w00t!
Yea, holiday spirit is all about the ebay ๐
