how did i accumulate so much “crap”?

Does anyone have any strategies for shoving a month’s worth of stuff into two checked bags and two carry-ons?
>including pants and sweatshirts because it might be cold;
>including many many shorts and tanktops because it almost certainly will be hot;
>including hiking boots and sneakers and an air mattress and maybe a fleecy blanket because you’re going camping for a weekend;
>including pretty clothes and pretty shoes because you (might) go to church;
>including swimming suits because you’re going to the beach for a week;
>including sexy shirts and such, because while you’re at the beach, your friend down there will probably take you to some clubs and/or parties;
>including towels because finding a clean towel at my house is like finding a needle in a haystack;
>including underwears and bras and socks… well because;
>including your laptop and sketchbooks and journals, and some muy importante documents..

Because if I take my laptop in its case, then that counts as one whole carryon, and nothing else will fit in there.. but if I put my laptop in my backpack, with my books and such, I run the risk of it getting bumped and jostled, and hopefully the sand that used to be in my backpack isn’t there anymore :- And between the airmattress and all of my shoes, the big suitcase is essentially taken up. And my other “checked” bag isn’t going to be any more than a kinda largish duffel bag which is already stuffed to capacity, as is my big “slouch bag” from Laila Rowe which I intend to use as one of my carry-ons. And I keep finding more stuff that I want to take with me.. like my granola bars because I don’t think they have the kind I eat at Redner’s, and even if they did, I should eat the ones I already have first. Or my makeup bag, or… something… *sigh* I guess I don’t need as many short sleeved t-shirts as I have packed…

Gosh, I hope I remember everything. And the craziest thing is… I actually like packing o.O

I hate packing. I know when I went on my senior trip to London. I waited till the last minute and practically jammed stuff into my suitcase. I don’t even know how it closed.

packing doesn’t bother me. i’ve become pretty efficient at it, but after reading this, i realize not THAT efficient. i don’t know how i’d do it. that alot o’ stuff!

RYN: Yeah, maybe you’re right – but then how does a glass of water equal the same points as a doughnut? Also, it doesn’t account for how MUCH of the stuff you’ve consumed. I’m such a nerd…

Hehe, I like packing too (how weird)… I have no idea how you’re going to pack all that stuff unless you hire a double decker bus or something…

Having a fresh expierience in this field, I think you slightly overpacked. Visiting Heather for 10 days, I had clothes for 11, plus a jacket, 2 pairs of pants, an air mattress, blanket, toiletries, music, books, and a cd player all in one suitcase and one carryone dufflebag. Robert
