cold showers and hot toddies.

Two mornings in a row. Two mornings, I’ve had to take cold showers. Today was at least somewhat warm (maybe room temperature?) but it was still decidedly cold.

In case my last (real) entry wasn’t somewhat indicative, I’ve developed a bit of a paranoia/dislike/hatred for tradtional medicines. This is partially because of a book I’ve been reading lately. (Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want Yo to Know About by Kevin Trudeau) but i’ve pretty much always had this attitude of not taking medicine unless I was practically dying first. But anyways, this came at a marvellous time, because I’ve developed a bit of a chest cold what with the changing weather, and my roommate’s insistance upon running the air-conditioner (which, of course, is right by MY bed, but I digress).

Last night I took nyquil because i had an early class today, and I always have trouble getting to sleep on the nights I go to bed early. But today I decided I needed something else. And thus was borne the hot toddy (which some of you may remember from this old entry. Also, pomegranate juice. I don’t know if it’ll work, but I’ve heard good things from other people. But it’s kinda like my one teacher said last week… “Treat a cold and it’ll go away in seven days. Don’t treat a cold and it’ll be gone in a week.” So we’ll see. I just wish this incessant cough would stop!

In other news, my allemande sauce had too much lemon the first time, and too much salt the second time. Also, I now like mushrooms, as long as they’re in a sauce suprême. And Veloute is glorified gravy, although you can’t actually serve it as such, because it is an incomplete sauce. Who knew. surely not you?

I hate to put this in as an afterthought, because it really is sad, but it doesn’t affect me nearly at all… a student at the school died over the weekend of bacterial menengitis. We were told that it can only be spread through contact with saliva (sharing food or drinks or kissing–kinda like mono), and she’d only gone to one class before being hospitalized, which I didn’t share with her. Anyone who wasn’t in that class has a miniscule chance of contracting it. Plus, i was vaccinated for meningitis before I went to Hopkins. So it doesn’t affect me, but I still feel the need to mention it. Do with that information what you will

And lastly, boys are nice :-D. More on that later, but you must immediately and without question ignore that statment should I ever again say boys suck.

That is all.
