as we drive past yet another building lit up in purple-colored lights
Me: See Maygan, this is why I can’t live in Baltimore anyway. Everytime I wear my ski hat with the eagle on the front of it, people call me an idiot.
Maygan: What’s the eagle for?
Me: Umm… it’s Philadelphia’s football team
Maygan: Oh. Are they good?
Me: This year.

Damn near every building in Batimore has been decked out in purple lights in show of thier support for the Ravens. It’s actually kind of pretty for the most part. But when I was walking back to the apartment from parking my car last night, I saw that even the bell tower of Gilman Hall was lit up in all purple, and I just got annoyed. Not quite sure why, but it really annoyed me.

Today I had to go out briefly to get some lunch, since I’d packed all my dishes away, and most of the food in the fridge was either frozen or nearly a month. Just about every single person I saw, including the cashier at the grocery store was wearing Ravens paraphrenalia. It only served to further grind in the fact that I was clearly in the wrong city today.

As I walked back to the apartment building though, I saw a man walking towards me. He was wearing a grey t-shirt. On the T-shirt was printed, “Philadelphia Eagles NFC Champions 2005” I couldn’t help but get a big goofy grin on my face at seeing it.

The Ravens lost to the Colts today, 15-6. That also made me smile.

And the Eagles game starts….. now.
