Critical eight

There are eight critical leaderhip skills:

Courage

Integrating Head and Heart

Listening

Balancing Key Paradoxes

Leveraging Ambiguity and Turbulence

Managing Difficult Conversations

Seeing / Thinking Systemically

Being an Agent of Change

Ask yourself and rate between 1 and 5 (1 being low and 5 being high):

1.  I am courageous.  I take appropriate personal risks to demonstrate my commitment to…

2.  I lead not just from my intellect but also by being empathic to others, and expressing my own passions and emotions.

3.  I consider myself a life-long learner, willing to try new things without having to be perfect.

4.  I explore my own discomfort as  a way to learn and understand.

5.  I continue to understand how diversity benefits me.

6.  I regularly make an effort to fully listen to others, and to accept their perspective as valid, especially when their point-of-view is different from my point-of-view.

7.  I routinely initiate and negotiate difficult conversations.  I understand how these conversations improve our decision-making and maximize my learning.

8.  I have noticed my natural tendency to want to over-simplify the world (and break diversity into a set of simple rules) and I work to acknowledge the complexity of diversity.

Let me know where you scored yourself low and I’ll give you what you need to increase your power in that area.
