Sleeping on the couch
And Hubby and I are on speaking terms so it’s not like that. 🙂 No, see, today when I sat down to edit photo’s (ya know, the ones I jacked up and am going to try and salvage?) I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked down to see a GIANT BUG. This giant bug was a giant effing cockroach! I’ve never screamed like a little girl about bugs before but I did today for the first time! Ebony looked at it, watched it crawl across the floor and then…WALKED AWAY! Thanks my “mighty hunter” feline. She apparently sucks at hunting. I managed to trap the thing under a small star shaped box I had that was holding some trinkets (that promptly got thrown onto the dresser). I then proceeded to call my friends down the street (ironically the ones I took family photos of) and asked if her husband could come down and kill a giant bug for me. Lol. 🙂 I’m just glad he’s on a different schedule than Hubby so that I HAD someone to call! Turns out they had the same (but larger, EW!) cockroaches when they moved in. After we got it outside and smashed the hell out of it with his shoe I called the front office and told them to put us on the list for the Orkin man who comes by weekly. I’m also going to get roach motel thingys that our friends suggested (and used when they had the same problem) b/c after he killed it he told me they had the Orkin guy out twice and the things still weren’t dead so they bought roach bait and haven’t had a problem since.
All that to say: Since I saw the thing in the bedroom I physically can not sleep in that room without staying up all night thinking icky thoughts about that damn bug. Not to mention (and this is the funniest part) I’m allergic to roaches. Yup. One of the many things they tested me for a few years ago and I was positive.
I had 3 baskets of clean laundry on the floor in the bedroom and I rewashed ALL of them because I wasn’t sure where the damn thing had been and I wasn’t going to be able to wear any of those clothes unless I rewashed them.
In other news: Still no orders or an assignment (as I’ve been told by Hubby they’re 2 different things and the important thing is that we don’t have an assignment yet, not so much orders). In any case, one of the guys in his class brought it up at their Commanders Call today and their Chief was like “Wait…you guys don’t even have assignments yet? And you’re almost 30 days from you graduation date? This is big problem and I haven’t heard of it yet. Come see me tomorrow.” Seeing as how they’ve talked to just about everyone about this problem and all these people said “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.” they apparently did NOT take care of it b/c if they had the Chief would have heard about it by now.
So we SHOULD know by Wednesday where we’re going after here. And I can’t believe after the holiday we only have a month here! It’s gone by so fast! Which is good and bad. We’ve made friends who I’ll hate to say goodbye to (even though they’re leaving as well b/c they’re cross training too). But if we’re lucky (which we never are) we’ll get orders to Ohio and we won’t have to say goodbye to one set of friends b/c that’s where THEY’RE going. 🙂 Even more reason for me to keep my fingers crossed for Ohio. But like I said, we’re never lucky with this kind of stuff. We’ll see. Hopefully by Wednesday we’ll have our answers. *fingers crossed super tight!* 🙂
*chants* O. Hi. O. O. Hi. O. O. Hi. O. Can they hear me??? Ugh. Cockroaches *shudder* Sounds like by the time you get the problem fixed, you’ll be out of there anyway! Lame.
Warning Comment
Oh I hope Hubby’s orders get straightened out. And OHIO is a great place! (even though Im not there). And EW EW EW EW to coackroaches. I’m not afraid of bugs or creepy crawly things but those things would freak me the eff out.
