I love my kitties.

And that’s why I’ve been doing everything I can to make sure they make it over to Hawai’i to be with us. You don’t even wanna know what my vet bill from yesterday ended up being. I’m really glad that they have a nice military discount b/c otherwise we would have gone from “Yikes” to “Dead” in terms of the total. (Just to sum up: Eb had a teeth cleaning, IV, blood work (pre-op), x-ray, tooth pulled, 3 packed teeth, micro-chip and blood draw for the FAVN test. Tyson had his micro-chip implanted and blood drawn for the FAVN test. Layla had her micro-chip implanted, sedation, blood drawn for the FAVN test and a night of boarding.) But it was all necessary stuff and stuff we should have just taken care of a long time ago (the micro-chipping).

Ebby had a teeth cleaning and it was a good thing too. I knew she was due but was planning on waiting until we got to our next base. Now that that base is in Hawai’i I figured I’d better do it now while we did everything else. She had one tooth x-rayed and pulled due to an abscess (poor Bubba) and 3 “packed” with stuff to help get them healthy again. They also did some blood work to see how her liver and kidney functions are (they’re great!). While she was sedated they implanted her micro-chip and drew the blood for the FAVN test.

When I went to pick her up later in the day I took Tyty and Layla with me so they could get their micro-chips and blood draws for the FAVN test. Tyson they were able to chip and get blood from (a little hassle but they were able to do it). Layla put up such a fight after they got the micro-chip in that they said they would have to sedate her to get the blood drawn. If they did it that night she’d stay overnight and I’d pick her up in the morning. Otherwise I could bring her in the next morning and they’d sedate her, draw the blood and then I could pick her up same day (this was at around 6pm). I told them since she was already pissed go ahead and sedate her and I’d pick her up in the morning. Poor little girl. 🙁 But if she hadn’t put up such a firey fight she could have come home last night. She’s fine, just happy to be home. 🙂

Eb was really wobbly when I got her home last night (understandably) and I have an antibiotic and a pain medication to give her. She’s much more stable now and was nothing but love last night in bed. 🙂

Now everyone is micro-chipped, 3 previous vets have been called and are mailing me original Rabies vaccine certificates, blood has been drawn and is on it’s way to the lab in Kansas. The DAY that lab receives their blood the 120 day wait starts. The twins will be staying with my In-Laws for the last 2 months of the wait and I’m waiting to talk to my Dad to ask if Ebby can stay in my old room. He’s my last option and I know he’s going to not want to do it but I figure if I cry he’ll fold. He’s seriously my only choice to house Eb for those 2 months (well, 3 but we’ll be there for Feb). And unlike my sisters cat who is currently residing there, Eb has an “eviction” time frame. The first week of May – as soon as those 120 days are up – our friends will be taking all 3 kiddos for their final “Health Exam” and putting them on a Continental flight to Honolulu for us. We have amazing friends.

Is it May yet?
