A good day!

Today started off UBER early (0530) but it was SO WORTH IT! Hubby got a text from a buddy saying “I know you’re probably not up yet but you made it! Congrats buddy!” Hubby made Tech Sergent!

Normally Hubby doesn’t look at his phone until his alarm goes off no matter what else dings on it. But he slept really poorly because he had this dream where he looked up the results today and he didn’t make it (which he was convinced was what was going to happen, he’s been saying it for months). So he slept very fitfully and when his text noise went off at 0530 he rolled over to check it out. He said “What!?” to which I rolled over and kind of grunted at him. At this point I was getting concerned: Was he supposed to be at work for some reason even though his shift doesn’t start until 3? Was someone we knew hurt/in the hospital/dead? He rolled to look at me and said with wide eyes “Stanford just told me I made Tech!” At that I actually opened my eyes and said “WHAT!?” Hubby proceeded to jump out of bed and while running out the door said “I have to go check the results!”

I rolled back over but was fully awake waiting for him to come back in. I heard him running from the office and BUST through our bedroom door. I looked at him and he raised his fists in the air and quietly yelled “YEAH BABY!” I’m sure he would have been screaming if he weren’t worried about waking Monkey. Lol. 🙂 He then proceeded to drag me out of bed so I could see it too. 🙂 He asked me “Am I really awake?” And I told him “Yes, you are really awake and this is really happening!” 🙂 I’m so happy for him and so proud of him! He was so convinced that he didn’t pass for another year that he was so surprised and happy when he saw his name there on the list. 🙂

He’s been getting phone calls and messages all day to say congrats. It’s awesome. 🙂 The party we’re having on Saturday is now morphing into a “Promotion Party” with an undertone of “Birthday” for Monkey. 🙂 It almost felt surreal until his 1st Shirt called and said “Congratulations! The Commander wants to see you today.” To which Hubby said “I bet he does, sir!” 🙂

I’m so freakin’ happy for him it’s crazy. 🙂 SO happy! 🙂 Congratulations to my Hubby for his promotion to TSgt!! 🙂

Then this afternoon I got a call from my best friend. She got engaged this weekend! Her first marriage ended when her husband became abusive and scary controlling. She has since found a great guy who treats her amazingly and I’m so happy for her! I told her she’s the only person I would actually fly back to the mainland for a wedding for. 🙂

It’s a good day here on the island! 🙂
