Rainy Days and Rainy Nights….

…in my bedroom. I awoke to the sound of what I thought was thunder at 2am, as well as the pitter patter of rain. On my forehead. In my bed.
A huge limb broke from a tree above my house and landed directly over my bedroom, cratering a hole in my roof and allowing water to rain down onto me in the middle of the night. Fortunately, I have insurance for just such emergencies. I guess I won’t gripe about paying those premiums after this, lol.
I think my bed, and certainly a large portion of my roof and ceiling are going to be a total loss, but no one was hurt and after all, cool rain is refreshing. Just not in 40 degree weather (or 4 celsius for my UK friends).
Anyway, I was able to place a tarpaulin over it until the insurance adjuster comes out to tell me how much they will pay towards repairs will be paid. I’m also going to ask if they will pay to have the offending tree removed. There is a branch about 20 foot long still there, and the tree is apparently dying. It seriously needs to be removed.
Other than that, I drew up a portrait of a lady for a tattoo I’m supposed to start tonight. My first tattooed portrait, hoping it turns out. I can draw or paint portraits all night long, but have never done one in tattoo. Not much (any) room for error there.
I also went to a public relations luncheon with the fire department just to get out of the house, and am now working on the last few loads of laundry. It really got away from me. Around 13 loads of laundry, apparently my children whom I love have been keeping dirty laundry for a while in their rooms. I usually stay out of their territory, but I haven’t had much laundry other than my own, so I made the mistake of looking in their rooms. It was not a pretty sight, so while I normally would just make them do their own laundry, I drank an extra cup of coffee for energy and have been washing, drying and folding my rear end off since yesterday. Today should see me caught up on all housework and then I can actually take tomorrow to rest up for my first day back at work on Friday.
I haven’t started anything for supper, so I guess I need to look in the cupboard and see what we have to throw together also.  The life of a single parent (insert big sigh here).
Actually, I am still riding high on the fact that life has calmed down of late.  These problems I can handle; storm damage home repair, bills, lack of money.  If these are the only problems I face, then I am truly blessed.
And in that spirit, here is the bible verse that has been on my mind today:

"Consider the lilies how they grow: They toil not, they spin not; and yet I say to you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

Good grief! You’re lucky you were hurt by that tree through your roof! I hope you can get the insurance company to remove it. Don’t give in to a no answer easily! They will negotiate.

:/ Glad no one got hurt, and that your insurance will do the job! Just hope they get it done quick so you don’t have to use an umbrella in there. 🙂 Love your attitude!!!!

It is a blessing that you were only wet and safe. Hope that the insurance prosess goes quickly. I am glad that it seems better with your sons. God Bless. Ginny.
