MERRY CHRISTMAS

I had told myself I would take a break from the computer until after Christmas, but here I sit with all my "good intentions" out the window.

I woke early, washed some dishes that didn’t get done last night, and am going to start breakfast for the boys momentarily.  Yesterday was a great day, the boys helped me clean house, and hung out with me all day.  We then went to a Christmas Eve program at church where I got a nice suprise.  Arlene, the mother in law of our pastor, and a lifelong friend, along with her husband Ervin, presented the boys and me with Christmas gifts after the program.  I got a replica of the Batmobile from the 1966 television show and a CD containing every issue of the Fantastic Four comic books since 1960 up until 2005. Lol, in my youth I was a bit of a comic book fanatic, and my oldest son was a comic book artist.  He passed shortly after getting his first professional job, which garnered very good reviews at the time.  I’ve been missing him badly during the holidays.  I can’t help dwelling a bit on the empty spots at the dinner table this time of year, but that’s natural to me, and after losing my wife in March, I suppose it’s more intense than usual.

However, the night was a good one, and the good memories outweigh the sad ones still.  The boys got a gift card for the video game store, so they were thrilled.  Unfortunately, the store closed as we got there, so they can’t use their card until tomorrow.

I hope that your Christmas day is filled with happiness and the joy and laughter of your family.  I hope that for this one day, any sadness retreats from your hearts and you can enjoy your day. Merry Christmas.
