Big Sigh!

Did you know that the period between October and today contains at least 10,000 days? I know this to be a fact because I’ve spent most of them sitting in this house, staring at these walls, and going quietly insane. I had my final appointment yesterday and the doctor released me to go back to work this morning. They faxed the release letter to my job allowing me to return, and I tripped lightly down the stairs and into the sunshine; all is suddenly right with the world. Then I called to verify they had received it.

Did any of you also know that yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr. day? I didn’t.

Human Resources was closed, so I had to wait until 8am this morning to contact them. They were late. So I called, called again, and yet again, finally getting them on the phone at 8:45am. They received my note, but said since it was so late in the morning, it would be easier on them if I waited and came back tomorrow. On the last day of the work cycle. Wonderful.

I will have to sit through most of the day for training updates, and they don’t have time today. I guess I can make it until day 10,001, since I have little choice.

Our dinner last night was nice, the boys stayed in with me, and we had a very relaxing evening. They seemed bored at times, but they won’t know how much this time means until they’re begging their own children for some family time. The years are growing shorter and they’ll both be gone in a little over a year now, and it’ll just be me rattling around this place waiting for visitors or invitations to dinner, lol.

The boys have had a long-standing joke that when they "make it big" they want to buy me the batmobile from the 60’s tv series and watch me drive around in it. Then there was an article yesterday that the car just sold for 4.2 million dollars. Apparently now I’m getting a used Volkswagen Beetle with a Batman Symbol. How the mighty have fallen…..

Going to put on my new shoes and go for a walk, since the weather is nice. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Sorry you didn’t get to go back to work today like you had planned. Like that the batmobile is now a VW bug. That’s funny.

I sat in the “Batmobile” long ago when we lived in California and saw Batman at an event….They didn’t start it up, but it was fun just the same. 🙂

I am sorry that the process took so long, but welcome back to the work force! Remember to take it easy. Ginny

It does sound like a long process – but glad you’re able to go back. Laughing re: the VW. After all you’ve done for them – aren’t you worth that $4.2M? 🙂
