Without a Trace
ALL of the Koi and Goldfish are gone without a single trace of them. We assume it was a heron or some other bird of prey, since a bear or land critter would have destroyed plants and messed up the rocks. I am heartbroken, as I loved having them. I so enjoyed looking at them, photographing and feeding them. In addition, they are necessary to help balance the eco-system of the pond.
We will get some more fish and cover the main pond somehow. Now that whoever had a gourmet lunch (or dinner) know there are delicacies to be had, we will have to be careful.
This was the largest Koi.
There were two that had long fins and look pretty similar.
We still have froggies.
Oh, how sad! I’ve heard of netting or wire screen that folks put over their ponds.

Well that just sucks!!! Something certainly did have a nice snack at your expense. I hope that you can get some new ones and figure a way to protect them. I’d be more then happy if something came into my yard and dined on frog legs.

How sad and strange. I don’t know if this is possible but I’ve seen people cover their ponds with a screen. It’s almost invisible but it will keep out anything intent on eating your koi.

Bird of prey indeed. I am so very sorry. Yes, call your pond folks and find out what they do in this case. This is awful.

I’m so sorry; your koi were beautiful. Could someone have netted your fish and taken them? It seems funny that ALL the fish are gone.

BASTARDS!! (that needs to be read with a Monty Python accent…) Ever do any skeet shooting? Herons would be easy pickin’s compared to skeet… Just a thought, probably very illegal. What’s that poisonous japanese sushi fish? Fugu? get some of those. Or maybe piranhas….. but not at the same time. Traci Lynn is right, that just so sucks. really sorry for you. Interesting that the frogs are still there. What eats fish and not frogs?

RYN: From Both. The pain in the shin left me rocking back and forth like and elephant while holding a towel to both shin and arm. Have you devised a cover yet?
