We The People

“We The People” has taken on a whole new meaning for me and for our country. There is a new optimism, which goes beyond hope and has filtered down to everyday folks. While I was watching the Inauguration and Hometown Ball, I had tears in my eyes several times. Although we are still at war and the economy is in trouble, it is uplifting to see so many people excited and enthused about our new president and our country.

I am usually not politically inclined, but have been very interested in this election, because it was going to make history no matter what. I even watched the debates (something I have not done since high school, when it was an assignment). This Inauguration has brought feelings to the surface that are similar to those I had when JFK was in office, as he was the first president that I related to. He was young, and exuded a ‘we can do it’ aura, which created a very positive atmosphere that has not been felt since. His leadership and the power of Dr King’s ‘Dream’ added to a strong patriotism and an anticipation of a confident future. I, however, lost all political interest when he was assassinated. The elected officials of our government and the direction of our country were one disappointment after another.

Today I do have a renewed hope and a new found excitement for our country, because of our new president. Barack Obama was the man I voted for, although I was originally a supporter of Hillary Clinton. I am pleased with her appointment as Secretary of State, as I am pleased about Caroline Kennedy’s forthcoming senate appointment. I feel these women also have the compassion and intelligence to make much needed changes.

A heartfelt ~THANK YOU ~ to those who have come before to pave the way ….

I feel a sense of hope I have not felt in years and I had tears in my eyes most of the day. I finally feel we are getting past our issues of race, religion and sexual preferences. it is a wonderful feeling. WE ARE ONE NATION!!!

I hope Senator Ted Kennedy get to see Caroline in office. May his health return to him. And may our new beginning truly be a bright dawning on a darkened time.

I so agree with everything you said here. I couldn’t get enough of everything to do with our new president yesterday. I watched it all…from early morning to the very last ball. I have been tired today, but oh so happy and hopeful. 🙂

RYN: Me too. PS I see your entries are having the same problem as mine with some words for no discernable reasons being green and underlined. Any clues ?? For example entry above school office !!
