Moving Forward

First of all – and most importantly – THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CARING AND SENSITIVE NOTES. I am very appreciative of your outpouring of love. I know that Cookie is with her first family of pals BC and Butch and has made some new friends – Linda’s dogs Dancer and Bo, Traci Lynn’s dog Nubbs and Redcat’s Mandy and Ilsa.

We decided to adopt a puppy right away, mainly because Kody is depressed. I have been looking for an older (6-9 month old puppy), that was possibly a little trained. The one I really liked was already adopted, when I inquired about her. I went to the shelter where we got Kody to see a Collie mix and she was way too skittish and shy for us. They commented that she could never be off a leash, which is not a good thing for here.

I then saw a 3 month old lab/pit bull mix that is as cute as can be. She was in the back. I am not a big fan of pit bulls, but in a mix, she should be OK., especially as lab is the dominant breed. Also, she is young enough to get ‘mushed-up’ by us.

They insist that I bring Kody to meet her; it’s the shelter’s policy. Kody hates the car, but I will bring her there. They told me that they have 5 other applications, but I called and was firm that I wanted her and will bring Kody in at 11 AM tomorrow. We got rave reviews from our vet, which is also part of the process.

I will post photos when it is official and she is home.

Well I hope you get that dog!!! Do you have any names in mind? And of course I want to see pictures!!!! :)) I can picture Cookie romping with some old and new friends!!

Good luck! I couldn’t have a pit in my household because of all the small dogs I have, but I’ve been around a few of them lately — full blood — and they were very sweet. I think most of it is in the upbringing. You and Linda will be a kind and firm family for the pup. It should be okay. Hugs,
