Hot and Hotter

It’s been in the 90’s and way too hot to work outside. I did some gardening on Friday, since the heat wave was starting on Saturday. It’s major weeding time, which is the least fun of gardening. Saturday was errand day and when I cam back, I got into the pond with Linda to clean it up and get some of the string algae out. That job is very much like weeding – only wet.

I spent a little time in the shade reading and Linda took the following pictures of me:

Did I neglect to mention that ‘reading’ is a euphemism for ‘sleeping’?

Our friend’s 14 year old son spent all weekend and did some yard work (Go fig, he loves to stay over). He had a friend come over to swim with him and we invited him to spend the night (that way the friend would be entertaining him and not us). Works for me. On Sunday, it was just too hot to work outside and the boys spent the better part of the day in the pool. We hung out in the A/C.

The cherries are starting to ripen, which means we will soon have bears in the tree.

These are flowers from our Chinese/Japanese Dogwood tree. It goes by both names and it is ones of my favorite trees.

The Koi are doing OK. We lost two this spring and the rest seem to be healthy. After treating the water, we have 4 Koi and 4 Goldfish left.

This frog has the right idea – keep cool, while sunning yourself!

This is another variety, but he/she also has the right idea about all of this heat and humidity.

I was going to say…didn’t look like you were reading that book for very long…LOL… at least you were comfy!! That Koi fish looks so cool. Can’t say that one frog looks like a flinger. I’d almost be too afraid to pick him up. :))
