Houseguest
I totally deserve that 4.0, for this weekend alone.
Holy crap.
Backstory:
My friend, Leila (Lou), has been staying with me a few days a week to go to school. She has classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and because she lives so far away, I told her she could stay here the night before class so she wouldn’t have to make that awful drive in the morning. The arrangement was for 2, maybe 3, nights. Last week, she stayed 4. This week it looks like it’ll be 5. I totally get why she wants to be here, rather than at her house.
My apartment is twice the size of hers. She has 19 cats (she rescues animals), 8 dogs, 4 horses, 2 donkeys and 2 miniature donkeys deal with (yes, plenty of other people live on the ranch and take care of them while she’s gone). I have 2 cats (and she brought over her cat, Stiltz, this week –which is her cat, and not a rescue cat… because when you have 19, there is a pecking order), so technically I have 3 cats in my apartment now. But it’s a large 2 bedroom, which is surprisingly clean and extrodinarily quiet. So I get it. Plus, her dumbass boyfriend, Tim, whom I’ve mentioned before, isn’t here being annoying. So I get it.
The trouble is, living with your best party friend can be exhausting. Hell, for me, with my social anxiety, living with anyone is exhausting.
Why I deserve a 4.0:
Lou didn’t feel like studying today. She was restless, and despite having no money, wanted to go shopping. "I’ll only be out for an hour or so," asking if I wanted to tag along. I didn’t. I took a short nap, then studied my butt off. I am just taking a break now from the studying and … *looks*… yep, no ass left.
Lou has been gone for 4 hours. The Labor Day Sales were additive, apparently. I’m enjoying the silence, but at the same time… I wanted to go shopping. I wanted to pick up a new pair of jeans or a cute pair of flip-flops. But alas… I study. I knew I needed to, so I stayed.
She’s on her way back now, and has requested I put on shoes to help her unload her haul.
