I’ve spent the last two days flat on my back with the worst case of flu I’ve had in years.  Ugh!  It’s been horrible.  Fever, cough, a splitting headache… at least I was spared the nausea.   It seems to be going around.  My brother’s got the exact same thing.  So does at least one of my students.

I’ve made it in to work today, but it’s not going to be any fun, I can tell already.  I’ve got a cold sweat.

The scary part happened late Friday night, though.  The Johnsons invited a bunch of people over for a dominoes tournament. 🙂  It was good fun, and I got to spend some time playing with Louis.  (I swear, that kid is like a nicer, darker-haired Calvin!  Right on down to playing Calvinball.)  I think I’ve become his hero or something. 🙂  At any rate, each time he finished making his move at his table, he’d come by to mine to chatter at me and give me hugs and so on.  He’s very sweet.

I could tell that night that something was going wrong.  I felt a little “off”, and I wondered if I was developing a fever.  By the time I was ready to go, I was certain.  I had everybody pray over me and left.  Yowza.  Put it this way… I drove out of the Johnsons’ driveway… then the next thing I know I’m blocks and blocks away, having made several wrong turns, with no memory of how I got there!  Scary!

It’s strange, because I felt coherent enough, but the evidence certainly suggested I was wrong.  I made several more wrong turns on the way home, but I don’t think I did anything unsafe.  Probably the smart thing to do would have been to turn around and asked somebody to take me home… but by that point I was halfway home, so I figured I might as well tough it out.

By the next morning, of course, I was completely wiped out.  I had to cancel four students on Saturday. 🙁   A couple of them whined at me, but I told them, “Believe me, you don’t want what I’ve got.” 🙂

I was just about out of food (I’d intended to go shopping on Saturday) so I called my mom and she brought some stuff by, God bless her.  There’s not a whole lot else to say, because I was comatose most of the time.  (Missed Sunday Mass almost without noticing, so you know I was really out of it! 🙂  By Sunday night I was coherent enough to feel bored with laying there, so I knew I was on the mend.  Hopefully this horrible stuff doesn’t hang on too much longer.

Ah well.  Though good most certainly is in no need of evil, nor joy of pain, I expect us fallen creatures wouldn’t appreciate them sufficiently without exposure to their negations!

Ick! Sounds horrible. Drink lots of fluids and don’t try to get back up until you’re really better!

When something goes wrong, ALWAYS call your mom! lol

Whoa — I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better. Sounds like that was a nasty one! Re: your last sentence, you are so, so right.–

Praying for your good health… God willing of course. Did you ever relocate your vehicle, when it was lost/stolen last? With prayers,
