Vet Visit

Well, we took the kittens for their first vet visit. The appointment was at 4:15 so we had to leave right away when we got home at 3:30. Our vet is half an hour away and I had to stop at the bank. We made it right on time. About halfway to the vet we started smelling something foul. One of the kittens had shit in the crate!! They’re small so we decided to put them all into one crate, keep them together with their siblings so they’d be more comfortable. Heh, well since someone decided not to be a team player and to shit in the crate we ended up with 3 shitty kitties.

We got into the vets office and immediately got put into a room where we proceeded to tell someone that one of the kittens had an accident on the way over. She went to get help and they started opening windows all over the clinic, lol. A few seconds later a guy showed up with a cardboard carrier and started to take our carrier away to hose it off. Hubby pointed out that there was a nice fresh stool sample so the guy set that aside before leaving with the carrier, lol. If only we’d known then we wouldn’t have bagged a sample before we left. 🙂

After everything was all cleaned up the vet took at look at the kittens and gave them their shots. Everything went well, Oliver’s genitals are a little underdeveloped but that’s normal for cats with no tails. They also have some roundworms, but that too, is normal for kittens, all cats have roundworms, just like puppies. Everyone checked out fine and looks perfectly healthy. That’s a great reward, hearing that. We go back in four weeks for a distemper booster then we don’t have to go back again until spaying and neutering at 6 months.

We brought everyone home and everyone seems happy. Always a good idea to keep an eye on all the kittens and their injection sites for a day after a visit to make sure no one has a reaction. The vet said they’d be a little drowsy tonight and tomorrow, the combination of distemper and rabies shot can make them a little drowsy he said.

In other news, I’m feeling somewhat better. I was able to survive today and am no worse for the wear. I can’t quite eat normally, I had some grapes for breakfast, I ate part of my 7-layer burrito at Taco Bell and had some butter and garlic noodles for dinner. At least I was able to eat three times today though, much better than yesterday when I was living off apple cider, lol. My stomach still hurts quite a bit on and off, kinda comes and goes, and there’s some other stuff going on we won’t even talk about. I hope this clears up completely tomorrow or something, it’s not much fun and I’d like to actually be able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.

I guess that’s it for now. 🙂
