Vacation Day 8

We arrived in Nashville around 7:30pm or so. Checked into the hotel and dropped Sara off, then we checked out food places in the phone book and decided to head off to a little Mexican place we saw, it looked like it was going to be just right near our hotel. We started out in search of that and never found it. There are supposedly a ton of places to eat here so we decided to drive around. We drove around for an hour and found NOTHING we wanted to eat, everything we were interested in was packed. We were getting grumpy and decided to go back to the hotel and order a pizza from pizza hut. I’m hypoglycemic and I was getting lightheaded and stuff. That’s the worst I’ve gotten in a long time. I’m pretty good about taking care of myself with that, I was diagnosed with it at 15, my dad has it too. We just finished our pizza, it was alright, we’re not huge pizza hut fans though. One thing I’ve learned today, don’t ever come to Nashville without a tour guide.

During our drive we saw Vanderbilt though, which was kind of cool since we watch “Resident Life” on the Discovery Channel all the time.

I had a really nice e-mail from my dad. He said he was really proud of how I turned out and that he could see how happy me and hubby are and that he is still looking for that kind of happiness. He said he just keeps waiting to see what tomorrow brings. It’s nice to know he’s proud because one thing I’ve always wanted to do is make my parents proud.

I forgot to mention we don’t have my step-sisters cat. She ended up calling while we were there, her boyfriends mom kicked them out and they had to get an apartment. Sadly, the apartment doesn’t allow pets. That poor cat, I wanted to just take it, it’s a really super sweet cat but it’s got a problem, it’s been having seizures. My dads wife was supposed to take it to the vet but decided against it. I was kind of pissed to hear that. I’d have taken it but since we’re in the middle of a vacation we don’t have that kind of money and I didn’t feel good taking it home not knowing what was with it, for all I know it has Distemper or something crazy. My grandma thinks it’s a bad flea infestation that’s burrowed under the skin, that happened to her cat once and it started having what looked like seizures. My grandma will be on her to take the cat to the vet, especially if I call her and tell her she decided against taking the cat in. I’m going to call my grandma when I get home so I’ll be sure to mention it. 😉

Not much else happened today, I did quite a bit of driving for a change. I drove through all of Oklahoma and some of Arkansas. I even drove through Memphis, TN. That was an adventure, let me tell you!! There was an awful lot of traffic and construction. I survived and it was probably good for me to do it. 🙂

I don’t know if we’ll go this route next time or not. It’s been alright but I thought the northern route was better. Rest areas in Arkansas were few and far between, they showed several on the map that weren’t really there. They were too far for Sara, she started getting really restless in the back.

Our hotel here in Nashville sucks. I mean, it’s nice but the location sucks. We’re next to the industrial area and there’s a big train changing station. The sound of high-pitched squealing brakes hasn’t stopped for long since we got here. It’s painful, I really hope I’ll be able to sleep! I sleep pretty deep though, so as long as I can get to sleep I’ll be fine. I’m one of those people that can sleep through just about anything. hubby is in charge of the alarm clock for a reason. 🙂

Anyway, I’m rambling and I’m distracted by the TV so I’m going to lay down and be serenaded to sleep by the TV and squealing train brakes. Heh, I might have to take a trip out to the car for my ear plugs.

Sorry to hear you’re having such a difficult time in Nashville! I live in Knoxville (originally from Chattanooga), but the only times I’ve been to Nashville is a couple of times for concerts, or the several times I’ve flown out of their airport! Hope the trip improves. 🙂
