Vacation Day 6

Well, I don’t have a whole lot of time to type tonight. We’ve been rebooking hotels for the trip home. Hubby uh, got a little ambitious. hehe There’s no way we’d make it to Knoxville from Tulsa in one day. We’re going to stay in Nashville instead.

We went to my moms today. My mom and step-dad haven’t changed a bit. They drove me a little nutty this morning. They were trying to tell us we’re not feeding Sara enough. Yeah right! They let their dog eat as much as she wants and she’s about 40lbs overweight. Sara is right on for weight. She’s perfect, she’s being fed exactly what she needs and of course she wants more food but that doesn’t mean she needs it. I feed her exactly what the package says and she’s right on. One of the most important things with a golden retriever is to not let them get overweight, they’re more likely to develop things like hip dysplasia if they’re too fat. They’ve had nothing with problems with their dog, she’s had stomach surgeries and has an overactive thyroid, she’s way overweight and they still let her eat as much as she wants. Sure, it’s diet food but if you eat a ton of diet food you’ll be fat too. *sigh* They can just stick it, Sara’s perfect. A full grown female golden should weigh about 55 lbs, Sara’s almost full grown and is at about 45 right now. My mom’s one of those feed em till they’re stuffed people. She’ll even give me grief for not stuffing myself and uh, sorry but I’m trying to lose some weight.

Anyway, we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium today out by Jenks, Oklahoma. That was neat, a lot different than the Aquarium in Mystic, CT. They had a lot of like Big Mouth Bass and stuff here. I took some pictures of everything. It was neat, but pretty small. My mom’s parents say that it’s supposed to be expanded eventually.

We saw my mom’s parents tonight. They’re alright, they’re kind of snobby though. They’re the kind of people that won’t eat somewhere if it has a drive-thru and hotels we consider decent they consider trashy. I never liked them much when I was a kid but I like them more now that I’m older. It was hard to be a kid around them. I really can’t imagine how my mom tolerated having them as parents, I’d have gone insane. They do a lot of cross-country driving too though, they’ve gone the route we’re going home through Arkansas and Tennesee and stuff and said it was beautiful. They sounded excited about it and want us to e-mail them when we get home to let them know what we think.

We didn’t do much else, we let the dogs play and stuff. Her and Tisha are getting along just fine, you’d think they’ve lived together forever. Sara’s behavior has improved dramatically, I know it’s just because we’ve been with her so much though, we’ve had a lot of time to work with her. This was much needed. It’s hard at home, we get lost in our routine and shit and we don’t have a lot of time to actually work with her.

I’m not looking forward to getting back to the ole routine. I’m really hoping to be able to get my butt to college here pretty soon. I might try to start taking classes after we get our home equity loan. When our finances get better or depending on what I can get for financial aid I might try to go to part-time at work and get more classes in. I really want to get on this thing. I’m sick of being stuck in the computer job. I know it’ll be many a year before I can get where I want to be with my own little practice in our Town or one of the surrounding small towns but the sooner I start school the sooner I can get there! 🙂

I e-mailed that band director back and told him I was in Oklahoma right now and that I don’t know if I’ll make it to next Thursdays rehearsal but that if I don’t I’ll make it to the one after. I’m hoping I’ll like this band, I really need something to do that adds something I love to my routine. I’m happier when I’m busy, but only if I’m busy doing something fun. 🙂

You know what I’m getting sick of? Our damn hotel being cleaned every time we get back here. As crazy as that sounds it’s driving me crazy to have to untuck the sheets and everything. When I go to get in the shower I have to put the towel for the floor back down and move the hotel soap and shampoo. I’m probably the laziest person you’ll ever meet. I don’t make my bed or anything since I’m just going to use it again. I do if we’re having company, that or I just shut the bedroom door, unless it’s someone that’s never seen the place that will want the tour. The other thing is they keep throwing out the soap I open for by the sink. It just seems so wasteful, the bar was barely used and they put a new one out which I’ll just have to to unwrap the next time I wash my hands. Really, if it’s the same people in the room just leave the damn opened soap. I guess we could leave the do not disturb thing out but I dunno, I do like that they vaccum and stuff in here. *shrugs* Strangely enough, I’ll be glad to be back home to my messy, but cozy, home. 🙂

Anyway, I need to get to bed otherwise I won’t be very nice to hubby when he tries to wake me up at 7am. 🙂

G’night

Sara IS perfect! As for getting that practice in your town, it’s worth all the years and the effort. It really, really is. I wouldn’t want my life to be any other way.
