Vacation Day 3

We made it to Tulsa today, right on schedule. This has been the best trip ever, hardly any traffic, what construction there has been hasn’t put us too far behind schedule. There was a lot of traffic in MO. The worst thing though is that we have no A/C and coincidentally Oklahoma is having an unseasonably warm week! *sigh* It’s in the 80’s here right now. I’m not too happy about that but whatever.

It’s kind of weird being back. I drove from a little ways into Missouri all the way to Tulsa. The Will Rogers Turnpike is never too busy so I knew it wouldn’t be a problem, plus the speed limit is 75 so I could go 80 without even having to worry about being pulled over.

Sara has been really good, every so often one of us will look over and jokingly say “Did we leave Sara at the last rest stop?” She’s so quiet in the back seat that we forget she’s even back there sometimes.

I’ve kind of forgotten Tulsa, luckily it’s logical and well organized. I missed my exit from one highway to another still though. Once we got to the hotel I called my mom to let her know we were safe. Then hubby and I went to get dinner, on the way there I got turned around and I went right when I was supposed to go left. hehe, it’s coming back to me though. I’m happy to be here. Hubby got some Arby’s and I got myself some Taco Bueno. You can only get Taco Bueno in Oklahoma and Texas, so needless to say I don’t get it very often.

Our hotel room is awesome! We got the only suite in the hotel apparently, it’s so cool. We have a living room, a bedroom, two full bathrooms and a private balcony! Along with a fridge and a microwave. All this for only 67 dollars a night!!! I think we’ve found where we’re going to stay every time we come to Tulsa now. It’s in a pretty busy area, which kind of sucks but we’re used to road noise anyway. I’m going to have to take pictures of this room, I won’t be able to post them until we’re back home though.

Tomorrow and Wednesday we’ll spend the day with my dad and my grandparents. Then Thursday and Friday we’ll spend the day with mom and my other set of grandparents.

This has been a really relaxing trip, we totally needed this. The break from work has been great. I’ve got no stress. Hopefully this feeling will last after I get back from vacation. 🙂

In other news, I made the mistake of reading “Fast Food Nation”. Well, okay, it’s not really a mistake but it kind of makes you not want fast food. I started reading it awhile back but ended up putting it down for awhile. I do that a lot, take a break from a book, read another and go back to the other one. I decided to set aside my book on Anxiety and read this for the trip, at least until I finish it. I got to the part on the meat packing industry and oh man, I will never look at beef the same way again. I mean, I’ve never been a huge beef fan, I tend to avoid it whenever possible but now, I don’t even know if I could go near it. I just thought I knew how it was processed, it’s more of a nightmare than I ever imagined. Not just for the cows either, the employee’s suffer as well. Not as bad now as 10 years ago, but it’s still not all under control. I’m not going to go into the graphic details, but I totally recommend the book. There’s some neat stuff in there too, it’s not all disgusting stuff that makes you never want to go near fast food again. 🙂

Anyway, I should probably e-mail my dad and then see about taking a shower. I’m sure I’ll have more to write about tomorrow night.

G’Night

Ugh! I’m so glad I don’t eat meat! It doesn’t sound as if you have a suite. It sounds as if you have a whole apartment! And for only 67 bucks???? Man, I’m moving back to OK! Glad you made it safely! Have a great time with your family.
