Vacation Day 2
Well, today went well. We got started out earlier than planned, which actually turned out to be a good thing because we ended up being right on time checking into our hotel. We would have been late if we’d set out when we planned. We had breakfast at this little restaurant at one of the rest stops. The food was really good but the service kind sucked. I had a cheese omelet and hash browns!! I was so excited to see hash browns, you can’t get those in CT very often, unless of course, I make them for myself but I’m too lazy to do that 99% of the time.
I started the day out feeling miserable, not a good way to start the day. Despite taking allergy meds I’d been having trouble with my allergies ever since we started out, it got a TON worse when we hit Ohio, then today I was starting to feel like I was going to die. I ended up buying some Dayquil at one of the rest stops, I took that and even felt alert enough to do some driving, so I did. Only an hour though b/c I started feeling like I was going to doze off. For lunch we had Fazioli’s. I got a pizza sub but couldn’t eat much of it, it wasn’t agreeing with my stomach. The sauce there is just awesome though!!
We got to our hotel just after two. I was feeling a little bit better luckily, I was hoping I would because we were going to meet FallingDog! She’s a great tour guide and lives in quite the interesting town, makes our town look pretty boring. Her greyhounds, although lazy, were too much fun too. I’d never been all that close to greyhounds so it was a neat experience. They’re so soft, to me greyhounds didn’t look soft but they really are. They have the neatest eyes of any dog I’ve ever seen too, so expressive. We might adopt a greyhound from our local REGAP someday, certainly not until we don’t have Sara anymore, but we’ve talked about making our next dog a greyhound for the past few months and after actually being around some I’m in love, they’re the coolest dogs! I think it’s their more cat-like personality that makes me like them so much. Sara just has so much energy and although she’s wonderful and a ton of fun, I’m really more of a lazy dog kind of gal, hehe.
We had a blast today and so did Sara, she’s currently lounging quietly in her crate. She’ll sleep well tonight. Speaking of sleeping, that’s really what I should be doing, it’s damn near midnight. I’m kind of wound up though, this always happens to me, no matter how tired I am when I get to a hotel I wake back up. Of course, it doesn’t help that I shower at night and that kind of wakes me up. I don’t like the water here, ick, I think the hotel uses a water softener or something. It takes forever to get the soap rinsed off. I have really short hair and it took forever to rinse it out.
Our neighbors left us a message at the hotel here. We’d called them earlier but didn’t reach them, hubby left them a message and they apparently tried calling a couple times. They left a message that our pets were doing fine. 🙂 Great news, of course. It’s so hard to leave our pets behind. I mean, as much trouble as they can be and as much work as Sophie and the kittens are right now, they’re really a pleasure and I miss everyone. I really miss Kenny though, he’s my little foot warmer.
Anyway, yeah, I should really get off of here. We have a long drive ahead of us tomorrow. 10 hours to Tulsa, 10 hours is nothing really though, we’ll be there by about 9pm. Missouri though, ugh, I hate driving/riding through Missouri, it should really be called the billboard state. I didn’t think it was possible but it actually gets tiring reading all of them. Maybe it’s just me but eventually I just get to the point where you want to scream “I don’t give a flying fuck about the Meramac Caverns!!” It’s like watching commercial after commercial.
LOL okay, I really should get off here now, I just heard hubby snoring. I thought he was watching TV but uh, looks like I’m the only one watching TV now.
I just checked my mail and had an e-mail from the band director I contacted last week about the other band I found. Yay! He said I was welcome to stop in at my convenience. They perform 6-8 times a year but rehearse year round. This band sounds more my style so far. I’ll probably go check it out the thursday after we get back. I can’t wait!!
G’Night. 🙂
It’s very difficult NOT to fall in love with greyhounds! And I fell in love with Sara, too — what a great little doggy she is!!!!!! It was so nice to see you guys and I do hope you can stop in IL again!
