Stuff
So, thought I would write a quick update. We’ve been busy since we got back. Mostly busy having fun but that’s still busy, right? 🙂 The first thing we did was go out and spend all our Christmas money, that was easy, we both have far too many things we want.
Last weekend hubby and I went bowling. It’s been years since we’ve been. Luckily though, I haven’t lost my touch for the most part. I didn’t do particularly great but I didn’t do particularly crappy either. Boy did I ache the next day though and actually my right arm is still sore.
Yesterday wasn’t so fabulous. We had something to do yesterday morning and while we were out doing it the rear brakes on our Hyundai decided to crap out. They started making this horrible knocking sound. We ended up taking it to the shop and they had to give us a ride to hubby’s car which was parked in the commuter lot. We were supposed to get our car back yesterday but the part wasn’t delivered, we’re picking it up later today instead.
Sara has to go to the vet for a blood test today. We had her in recently for a routine check-up and shots. Her blood test came back positive for a tick-borne illness. It’s not lyme disease, it causes more of like flu symptoms. They said they’re not sure if they need to treat her or not since she’s not showing any symptoms. They’re apparently going to figure out whether or not she needs treatment with this second blood test. The illness is apparently easily treated with antibiotics. I hate ticks. Ticks are the only reason Sara has ever been sick other than a wasp sting that made her face swell up. She’s had Lyme disease and stuff too. It’s amazing because she’s rarely outdoors, we check her for ticks and Frontline doesn’t make a difference. Like I said, I hate ticks.
Not a whole lot else for news. Band is going to be weird this week. We’re joining together with the band President’s two 5th grade bands for a joint performance. It’s to give the students a chance to play with adults. It’s going to be weird though because our band director is assigning a 5th grader who plays the same instrument to each of us. We’re supposed to help them with music-related questions and be kind of like mentors. They’re also going to be interviewing us at some point. It’s weird because I’m uncomfortable around children. I don’t dislike them, they just make me weird. So this whole thing is going to be weird. It should be a neat experience though, especially for the kids.
Band keeps taking me out of my comfort zone. It keeps forcing me to do things I’m not comfortable doing, especially since I took over the role of Secretary. For instance, last week I had to get up in front of the whole band and make an announcement. I was dreading that big time. I guess it’s good though because I will sit in my comfort zone and not leave it unless forced out. Forcing me out forces me to grow and as much as I hate it, it’s good for me and maybe I’ll like it eventually, kind of like how I learned to like Broccoli. 🙂
Anyway, I should go for now.

May thy paths be green and the breeze on thy back
Ticks. Ew. But. . . Band. Awesome! 😉

I feel exactly the same about being around kids. although when I WAS in band in the 5th grade, if they had done the same thing, I probably would have adored the person i got paired up with.
