Snow, Concert and a new Fish Tank

So, we got lots of snow yesterday. Well, it was more sleet than anything, truly disgusting stuff. I’m sore from shoveling. I got a head start on the shoveling yesterday before hubby got home. I got most of it done and he helped with the worst part of it once he got home. It’s always terribly heavy down at the end of the driveway where the street plows leave it behind. That part alone is as bad as having to do the entire rest of the driveway. I’m not as sore as I feared I might be but I’m definitely feeling it.

In other news I have a concert tonight. It’s the concert we’re doing with the 5th graders. It should be fun, especially for the kids. Apparently this project has made a difference for some of the kids. Our band president is their band teacher and she told us that several of the kids had been considering quitting band. After this project though, they’ve all decided to stay in. How cool is that?

In other news again. 🙂 I got a 20 gallon fishtank and all the trimmings for free last Thursday. It literally came with almost everything I needed to get it going. I spent all of 30 bucks buying a few items, and of course there will be the cost of the fish and fish food. A guy hubby works with gave it all to us, he’s sick of having them so he just passed it all on to us. Hundreds of dollars worth of equipment and decorations, it’s awesome! I set it up last weekend and am currently in the process of “Fishless Cycling” it. It’s a way of growing the beneficial bacteria you need to complete the Nitrogen Cycle without harming any fish. In a couple weeks or so I should be ready to introduce some fish.

Here’s a picture of the fishless tank with Sophie sleeping on top of it (she likes the warmth from the light):

Not a lot else to report I guess. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately but not really stuff I’m ready to write about yet. So for now I guess I’ll go put my makeup on and decide which white shirt I’m going to wear to the concert. 🙂
