Screening in the Porch!
We’re working on screening in the porch today. This totally rocks. It looks way better than I ever thought it would. Hubby, the absent minded carpenter is cutting the boards and putting together the panels and I have the ever fun job of attaching the screen material to the wood. I’ve learned two things about screen today. A.) It’s very sharp. B.) When you cut it little pieces will end up all stuck in your clothing and also end up all over the ground so wear shoes or you’ll end up with pieces of screen sticking out of your foot.
I’ve avoided pieces of screen in my foot at least but I ended up cutting a finger on it and realized I would be needing my work gloves. 🙂
Hubby, the absent-minded carpenter, is currently out buying more screen, we ran out. 🙂 He’s also picking up dinner, thank goodness, I’m starved!!
Hubby named himself the absent-minded carpenter today because in the time it takes him to get wood over the his saw he’s forgotten the measurement. 🙂
Injury count for today so far.
One finger cut by screen. – Me
One large splinter in finger – Hubby
One Horse Fly bite – Hubby
Anyone want a kitten?
I forgot how much of a pain in the ass kittens are. Granted Sophie is like 9 months old, she’s still a kitten. Cats don’t grow out of most of their kitten behavior until closer to two years old. Especially cats that have obviously never had structure and rules.
Right now it’s dangerous in our house to dangle your feet off the edge of the bed.
She’s just like Sally was when we got her, when we go to punish her she lashes out and attacks. It’s especially bad in the kitchen, that room has the most rules. We allow the cats on the kitchen table when we’re not eating. We allow them to jump up on the sink to get into the window above the sink but they’re not allowed IN the sink. They’re allowed on the counters but not on the stove. Sophie has to learn that if she wants to get from one counter to the other she has to hop down and jump back up, not cross over the stove. Believe it or not they can learn this kind of stuff, all our cats know it although they will occasionally get lazy and try to cross over the stove. Sally also loves to get into the sink but knows she’s in deep shit if we catch her. She usually looks up at whoever caught her really worried and hops up into the window really fast, lol. Sally also learned to cross over the stove by going on the raised back part where the controls are. She’s a pain in the butt; I let her do that though because at least she can’t burn herself. My main concern is them accidentally charging across it when it’s hot. We have one of those ceramic top stoves and it stays really hot for a while after use.
I think Sophie will be a great cat, a few more months of training and she’ll be doing better.
Anyway, I need to go fill up some water jugs so I can clean fish tanks later. 🙂
I’ll post pics of the screened in porch when we finish. 🙂
The minute you wrote that you were cutting screen, I thought “OUCH!” I’ve had to cut screen and attach it before, and all I’ve ever ended up with is sliced up hands. I’m still trying to figure out how you train a cat. I’ve never had a cat in my life, so I can’t even imagine that.
