Halloween
So, the two Halloween parties this weekend were fun. We went to both as The Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith (we’re major Whovians). The party on Saturday was at our Pub Owner friends place. Ultimately, I should probably just call him by name. Anyone who cares enough to try to figure out which pub I’m talking about won’t have much trouble. I’m in CT talking about a Scottish pub, and there’s only one in the entire state. lol! So, our friend Dave’s party was Saturday. If you don’t know the show Doctor Who it’s a British Television series. Dave is Scottish, but we’d never discussed Doctor Who with him, so we didn’t know if he was really into it or not. I knew that he knew it well enough that he offered to teach me to play the theme song on guitar, but that’s about it. Anyway, turns out, he grew up watching it, so when my husband had both the 4th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver and a small paper bag of authentic imported Bassett’s Jelly Babies in his pocket, we basically won the costume contest, lol! “Attention to details!” Dave said. Well, we had won the contest until a woman with a really creative, completely hand-made, costume came in. We ended up taking second place, which was awesome still, because we didn’t expect to win at all! We were just doing our thing and would have done the same thing had there been no contest at all. We won a huge bottle of Rum and some Hoodies. 🙂
All in all, it was a fun time.
Huge storm here last night. As we were going to bed, listening to the wind, my husband realized he probably should have brought our grill and bins in. He ended up going back outside to do it after having already gotten warm and cozy in bed. I didn’t envy him, it was absolutely pouring! The winds kept waking me up and eventually the power went out. It was back on when I woke up this morning though and all was quiet outside. There’s nothing obviously damaged that I can see from the windows. I haven’t been out into the woods yet to check the trails for blow-downs. Schools are closed in our town, I guess because of downed trees, lines, and power outages.
I guess that’s it for now. It’s funny, I’ve taken to writing while I have my morning coffee. I don’t know if that’s the pattern I’ll stick to or not, but we’ll see. That’s pretty much what I used to do, except that back then I was sitting in a cubicle avoiding starting work and now I’m sitting at my kitchen table waking up the rest of the way.
Have a good week, everyone!
You two look wonderful, and I love those details.
