Good News

So first, the symphony. The music was nice, but that’s about the extent of it. The seating was atrocious!! The seats were uncomfortable, they were small and there was absolutely no leg room. I was ready to go home by the intermission. We stayed for the whole concert though. I’m not sure we’ll go back, at least not unless we can guarantee that we’ll get front row seats in the balcony or something. Anything with leg room. I could only sit in one position with the toes of my shoes pressed firmly against the chair in front of me, or with them tucked under my chair, that’s not all that comfortable though. I was in pain by the end. My hubby was uncomfortable too, he has broad shoulders and that made him miserable. Hubby also had a problem with the guy next to him not understanding personal space and he kept humming.

That aside, we got some really good news last night. Hubby talked to our home equity loan dude last night. Our credit scores and stuff are decent but there’s room for improvement so we were told we could get a loan to clear our debt and then later (3 months or so), once the scores are better take out a loan to pay the first one off and do our home improvements. How much we could get for the first loan hinged on an appraisal. However, the appraisal could be done online in an hour, they just check to see what houses in our area are selling for. Around 5:30 the guy called back and said that houses in our area were selling very well and that we could have this amount of money at this interest rate, or this other amount at a slightly higher interest rate. Hubby chose the first amount since it’s more than enough to cover all our debt and still do some home improvements!! Our next loan requires a real appraisal so it’ll be good to get some of these improvements out of the way to raise the value of the house before we do the next loan. I was in a state of shock when I realized we were actually getting the loan!! For once something financial was coming together like a dream!! I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it, I wanted to jump up and down and scream, cry, and laugh all at the same time. Now we’re waiting on a formal offer, monthly payment amount along with closing date and closing costs.

I still can’t believe that this is happening. My dreams are finally starting to come true. We’re going to be able to start off with a clean slate. We’ll be able to set up a savings. My days of buying on credit and wondering if we have enough money to pay the bills are soon going to be over! The guy said we could probably have our money by Thanksgiving.

This year, I will truly have something to be thankful for. Now that our debts are going to be rolled into something manageable I can actually start thinking about going to college and doing something productive with my life. 🙂
